  1. Apiece of advice I was given is to complete a french tax return even if you pay no tax in France That way it makes life easier. If you try to register without the back up of a french tax return then you have to start proving to CPAM what your income is converting to euros showing you pay income tax in UK etc
  2. LAST EDITED ON 12-Nov-02 AT 00:07 AM (GMT) I am in the same position I have already checked with inland revenue Police pension is classed as a government pension so is taxed in the UK,same as civil service and armed forces You cannot get out of it unfortunatly however if you find a way please let me know.
  3. I presume that you will be entitled to an E106 obtained from DSS Newcastle. This is issued depending on your national insurance contributions and is valid for up to 2 years. You then take your E106 to CPAM in France who register you.You are then entitled to health care under French system ie 70% reembursement etc You can then if you wish take out top up medical insurance to cover you for the rest. When E106 runs out you need to contribute to French social security system 8% of income after certain allowances. You are no longer allowed to take out private medical insurance for the full amount of costs incurred you must contribute to French social secuity system.
  4. We used HIFX for transferring funds for house purchase but were told that they did not deal in amounts under 2000.Perhaps you should have asked at the time
  5. Why not phone inland revenue they will have the answer
  6. E111 is for visitors on holiday and for emergency treatment only contact DSS newcastle for information on forms you require Carte de Sejour has nothing to do with health care it is a type of permit allowing you to reside in France.
  7. Try HIFX we used them for transfer of money from UK to France dont see why they cannot do it in reverse
  8. LAST EDITED ON 29-Sep-02 AT 11:09 AM (GMT) Try HIFX http://www.hifx.co.uk/ who are currency dealers with on line current currency rates. You can forward purchase from them if you think that rate is good at time and you dont pay up until you need currency. We used them for our purchase. Why are you purchasing in sterling anyway currency in France is the euro,I suspect that you are purchasing from British person who wants to protect their interests and it is you who will suffer any downturn in sterling v euro value.
  9. I suggest that you ask your company pension providers.I doubt whether anyone on this forum would be able to give you any advice based on the sparse information given.
  10. From my understanding of the system you should get back from French social security system approx 70% of prescription charges, there are some medical conditions which the French social security system refund you 100%.I think the only people who will answer your query regarding medical insurance cover for an existing condition would be the insurance companies. Will you be working in France/employed,self employed or not working/retired.If not working/retired you should be able to get an E106 from Newcastle which will cover you in France for up to 2 years Ask for booklet SA29 from Newcastle this explains all.
  11. An E111 issued by post office is to cover you as a holidaymaker while abroad for EMERGENCY TREATMENT only:ie; If you have a heart attack or get knocked down by a car, break a leg etc.If it is a medical condition that is not an emergency you are NOT covered.Even at that the E111 only covers a certain percentage of the costs incurred.avereging out at 70%.If moving full time to France you may be entitled to an E106 if below retiral age or E121 if over 60/65 dependant on sex.E106 is only issued for a maximum of 2 years, after that you have to pay into french social security system 8% of income above a certain level, dependant if married etc.You still only get around 70% refund for medical expenses You can take out medical insurance to cover you for the remainder.Of course you can take the risk that you will not need medical treatment.I suggest that you visit local DSS office and ask for booklet SA29 which explains all this or tel Social security overseas benefits dept01912187777.
  12. We went to cpam office in Angouleme with E106,passport,photocopy birth certificates, woman asked if we were working in France,no retired no problem took e106 from us,one month later have refund for medical costs incurred and await letter with our reference number if needed in future.Possibly you are working?I believe it is different if working.
  13. My pension is transferred out to credit agricole by my former employer using Bank of Scotland good service generally arrives in my account within 3 working days.I don't pay any fee.
  14. Is your sister coming on holiday or permenantly? If she is on holiday then E111 is for emergency treatment only.If she is having ongoing treatment then you have to contact Dept of Health in London international division who will consider issueing a E112.Read Health advice for travellers re this.If coming perminantly then she requires a E106 issued by DSS Newcastle. This can take up to 3/4 months to obtain
  15. Expect to wait about 2 or 3 months before you get your documentation thro probably depends on area you are.
  16. Re E111 this is for EMERGENCY treatment only Will not cover you for ongoing health treatment.
