  1. They were selling chasse taupe at the Floralys in Nantes this spring.  They are Incarvillea bulbs.  Wonder if they are the same?

I have not had trouble with the moles this year thanks to the chickens.  I think.  Touch wood etc.

  2. I have seen people parked up overnight in the actual car park too.  The parking bays are longer if you go past the terminal and park in front of the hedge.

I would go either for the St. Servan one or go into the swimming baths car park and park at the end there, same view.  The St. Servan car park did have signs saying the flic would chuck you out when I walked through in August but it could have just been the time of year.

The swimming pool is the next turning on the roundabout then after about 20m, you will see the entrance.

For the very best entertainment, be sure to be stood on the side of the road next to the roundabout when the ferry docks in the morning.  You can have little bets as to how many times a certain car goes round the roundabout. . .  I love it!

  3. Now.  I have always gone to the ANPE first.  As in help me find a job.  Then Assidic.  As in I am registered for work give me the dosh......

The ANPE will give you documents to take to the Assidic offices and so many days to make your RDV or your claim is cancelled.  They like cancelling claims.  Gives them a feeling of power.

  4. I see that you weren't off line long then!  Certainly not enough time to get the paintwork washed down.....!  Lucky you!

I'm not that keen on sausages, big or little.  Saying that, I got some out of the freezer the other day and just HAD to cook them yesterday so made sausage rolls.  Just had the last one two seconds ago.  All in golden brown ruff puff.  Now a nice bit of ruff.....  Forgot what I was going to say

  5. If you only need lightly coloured emulsion, mix it yourself.  I buy great tubs of white and mix it.  Doesn't work if you want bottle green or dark burgundy for example but the paler colours work fine.  I use the M. Bricolage really cheap stuff in 2.5 litre tubs for walls and ceilings, mat, and pour it into a 10 litre biggy if I need a lot.  On promo it can cost less than £2 a tub.  I was doubtfull too at first as I have enjoyed painting with mucus here, but this was fine.  I buy the acrylic tubes from the artist shop.  Or chuck a small tin of a colour in.

Also cheaper to do the walls white and sponge them with the colour desired . . .

Just make sure that you will have enough mixed up to do the room as there is nothing more annoying than needing another half litre!  Apparently!!

  6. Quick, send me your address.  Lulu actually caught the other mouse this morning so I will post her to you before she loses the nack.

You have to watch her though as she doesn't know what to do with it once caught......  She could be daft enough to bring it to you in bed!

Hope we are mouse free now.

  7. In a tidying up frenzy, I found the paper with the article in.  My neighbour had brought it across from the UK as I pass my copy on.

It was indeed Bulgaria.  I just happened to be looking at one of the property sites last night.......

Just off to find my passport!  £3000 for a PALACE!!!

Only problem is OH who won't be able to talk to anyone and will spend all day annoying me.  Why to men wait until you open the magazine to start droaning on..????

  8. Trouble is, you have to give two months notice of temination of contract so looks like you are lumbered this year.

I would go into the assurance office and thump the desk and generally rage about robbers who stitch up the English and see what they say.......If you don't pay, they will treaten you with all sorts but just keep telling them they are robbers and bandits and go somewhere else.

Might STILL work but a good ten years ago .....

  9. I was very lucky to be in the UK in my youth (29 and some months, me!)  I started in the green houses at 12 for the summer packing cucumbers and I worked well, always.  Baby sitting, checkout in the new, wonderfull, supermarkets until 8pm Friday and all day Saturday.....  I was seriously rich.  Pound a day in the green houses then half a crown an hour baby sitting.  Can't remember what I got for the check out.

Bit later on it was working during the day then working in a bar the night.  Mecca ballroom at one time!  I would leave a job on the Friday to start another the Monday for maybe a quid a week more.  I have had HUNDREDS of jobs.

This CV, obviously 'doctored' for the ANPE  to reduce the number and variety of jobs, took a lot of explaining.  Here, as far as I can understand, you decide very early on what you want to do and stick to your choice through thick and thin.  No possibility to change.  Shame, I enjoyed my changes.  How can you decide at 15/16 what you want to do with the rest of your life?

Anyway, the French are at last realising that stopping at school is no use.  What France needs is brickies, plumbers etc.  No point in all the kids stopping at school for their exams then all taking the same or similar course then most being unemployed.  On TV the other day.  As a 'scoop'!

Still want to take the money in a brothel though....
