So will it be just the transponders above 10.95 GHz or all of the 1N flock?........So my money is on my previous post on the subject being correct, ie that 1N will stay on at 28 deg E for the moment, at least until 2E arrives, and that the "big" BBC switch won't happen tonight, it'll just be a few ITV regions, the channel 5 stable, and Channel 4 HD....It's only a forum after all, I'll be happy to eat my hat for breakfast tomorrow!
No need Martin, You can stick to your croissant [:)] I can report here in the Lot that the four frequencies have gone down significantly to the same approximate level as the first BBC frequency change last week (about 11.7 dB or 57% on the Aston Simba compared to 14.5dB or 73% yesterday)All the other 1N frequencies have remained at the same (higher) level so obviously have not been transferred. This is still a reasonable signal though. No problems watching in most weather, I think.Danny

No change from yesterday for me here. Still broadly the same readings.Don't forget that cloud and other atmospheric influences will give fluctuations in signal levels over the course of any day.Danny

The BBC1 HD channels that Crabtree listed are not yet official. They are still labelled 8901 and 8911. They are two of the new national BBC1 HD channel variants either BBC1 HD Scotland, BBC1 HD Wales or BBC1 HD NISo the BBC1HD that you found on the Humax is the current BBC1 HD which will probably remain the same or may change to BBC1 HD England soon. That explains why you did a manual tune to find them. When they go live, the Humax freesat box will detect them and update automatically. In setup you enter a postcode and the BBC1 HD variant will be selected automatically like the current BBC1 SD is.DannyEDIT Martin beat me to it, Quillan
I've forgotten how big your dish is (and I ought to know, having glimpsed it briefly!) Presumably it's still working OK for you, my Simba will work with a signal quality as low as 15% (which is what I've had on the Irish Ka band channels but still had them functioning).
Still working OK - I think it's an 85cm (or 90 maybe) dish

I have been checking all the 1N frequencies for two days. There have been minor variations probably due to weather. But generally over all frequencies.Until just now. I have noticed a considerable drop in the new BBC HD transponder 11024H 23000I am measuring on my Aston Simba Fransat decoder and that frequency has dropped from 66-68% (normal reading over the last few days) to 52% since this morning. All the other frequencies have remained constant.DannyPS I am in the Lot

This is a great French site for comparisons, real reviews and best prices http://www.lcd-compare.com/ of just about every TVDannyEDIT P.S. just remember that whatever TV you buy, it will be out of date and a lot cheaper after just 2 months or so.[:-))] and you can't really get round this
My firmware is FAST3XXX_6814BC.I believe there may be a MK11 Livebox 2 though as someone reported having a sync speed parameter in System Information which I certainly don't have.Maybe my Livebox is due a lightening strike or something equally terminal [;-)]
There are two versions of the Livebox 2. The first was made by Sagem and the present version is made by ZTE.They have different firmwares. Each box also has two versions of firmware depending on the contract used (VOIP telephone or not)http://www.forum-orange.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=25376 details the latest versions. There is an update being deployed at the moment. The ZTE Livebox is no better or worse generally but has some problems for advanced users - gamers, etcThere is a new livebox 3 coming sometime soon...ish. Probably early next year from what I can read.Danny

This is the service,http://assistance.orange.fr/le-wifi-partage-954.phpwhich is being rolled progressively by Orange. It is the same idea as Free and SFR have already. You choose to have the service active or not in the 'espace client'http://assistance.orange.fr/activer-desactiver-le-wifi-partage-de-la-livebox-1181.phpyou can request the service via this linkhttp://assistance.orange.fr/demande-wifi-partage.phpIt may not be possible on your line thoughDanny
Thank you Danny exactly what is required.I presume that this means that unless you have this 'hotspot' system working the access to normal Wifi is at the account holder's risk?
exactly, Norman.Danny
-
It may not be available yet in your area. You should receive an email from Orange to let you know it is functioning. If it is, there will be an option in your Espace client to activate or disable itLook in mon compte/mes services and you will see "wifi partagé" if is available. You can activate it from there.Danny

With Orange Pro, you can set up a hotspot for customers which is separated from your own wifi network.http://assistance.orange.fr/utiliser-la-fonction-wi-fi-access-de-votre-livebox-pro-1986.phpThey are starting this with all residential customers soon too. Along the same line as Free and SFR.http://assistance.orange.fr/le-wifi-partage-954.phpDanny
you can buy a special bracket to hold the LNB's pointing to the separate satellites
I have this bracket on one dish with good reception of both UK channels from Astra 2 satellite and French and German channels on Astra 1 satellite too.It is a little bit more fussy to set up but works well.
a Humax box will give you Freesat, and with a Diseqc switch you can tune both using the same box
Some difficulties with this suggestion...
The present Orange satellite decoder does not handle Diseqc and the card will only work in the Orange box. So both boxes would need to be used with separate feeds.
There is a new decoder out soon for Orange satellite TV but it is early days and its features/capabilties are not really known/developed yet.

If you are having problems sending, it may be necessary to use port 587 for outgoing SMTP setting and make sure that you tick the authenticate box "my server requires authentication"(Mon serveur requiert une authentification) in Outlook express and similar in other email programs.http://assistance.orange.fr/envoyer-des-messages-avec-le-mail-orange-depuis-une-autre-connexion-avec-outlook-express-6-1354.phpDanny

Yes, but......it may be more complicated depending on your needs. The normal way to do it would to use a DiSEqC switch something like this oneThe cables go from the dish to the switch and one cable goes from the switch to the sat decoder. This would supply only one satellite decoder and it must be Disecq capable. The Diseqc function basically allows the box to decide which dish to use for each channel. So you can have more than one dish on one decoder. This may give you some limitations. For example, what you could watch and record at the same time etc.Anything more complcated would generally need more cables through the wall.Is there a possiblility to pull a new double cable through the wall using the present cable? There are some double cables called 'shotgun' cables which have a smaller diameter. Like this for exampleDanny

It seems that Mezzo live HD is part of one of their add on paying packs.http://assistance.orange.fr/pds/pdf/toutes_les_chaines_de_la_TV_dOrange_Satellite.pdfSo if your friend has only taken the basic (free) channels then Mezzo and Mezzo live HD will disappear soon. They normally keep the paying channels open temporarily for new installations to tempt customers into signing up once the screen goes blank!Danny

Here you go Martinhttp://assistance.orange.fr/telechargement/pdf/Guide_TV_OrangeSAT_2011.pdfpage 15 "modifier le format d'image"DannyEDIT... maybe page 16 too if it is not the most clever of machines.

There is a similar discusion on this thread at the moment - 2 pagesgo in to your espace client orangehttp://espaceclient.orange.fr/sign in and disable the services under the compte internet/mes services internet/You may find that minitel service is no longer listed there.I see that there is new one called "contact+" too but on mine that is disabled by default.Danny

No mistake, you have it right. You do not need to continue to rent the livebox either. You can use any compatible modem/router. I have been on this for about 6? months now and no problems at all.If you want to add on unlimited calls to French mobiles it is 5 euros extra p/m.The 38.90 does not include the livebox rental (3 euros p/m)You do need to call up to change. It is not available on line.Make sure that you are very clear about what you want and don't want as some of the sales staff can add on extras if you are not careful.Danny
