  1. Uh oh.  Didn't realise about the drought.  Am moving back to UK on the 28th so I've stopped watching french telly altogether, which explains why I was outside this morning washing the car and having a water fight with my two young sons around 11am.  Neighbours saw and didn't seemed to mind though, even waved and said ca va.  Maybe they were waiting for the impending visit from the gendarmerie to cart me away which would have made their life just that little bit more exciting today.  Hey ho, just as well we are going back to the UK before I break any more french laws.
  2. Try www.angloinfo.com in the animal magic section.  I rehomed my two cats within a week and had lots of replies.   Good luck.
  3. Loving home has been found.  Getting rehomed tomorrow.  Thanks to everyone that helped me. x
  4. Thanks catgirl, but found a loving home already.  Taking them round tomorrow.  Thanks for all your help though. x
  5. They sound like the perfect owners for the cats, but I wouldn't want to impose. Sounds like they are going through it a bit at the moment.  Fingers crossed, if Dave or Olive reads this posting, please feel free to contact me.  Will travel as far as Spain to find a good home for them (Spain wasn't a joke by the way).
  6. I apologise to anyone reading this who is sick of reading animal postings in the North West France section, but I have already placed an posting in the pets section.  I posted about my two cats a few weeks ago finding a new home and I did find one, but due to problems at the other end, the lady is now unable to take them.  I have advertised the cats absoloutely everywhere and am really desperate to get them rehoused.  I am leaving on 26 August, so time is running out.  If anyone knows of a good home for them, PLEASE let me know. Thank you.
  7. Desperately seeking again.  Had new home sorted, but other problems set in and now unable to take the cats.  Can ANYONE please help.  Leaving Aug 26, must have them re-homed by then. Thanks.
  8. In the last couple of days, I have had the unwanted and terrifying pleasure of having these absoloutely massive things in my house.  The look like wasps, but seem to have two separate bits to their body and they are easily 2 inches long.  I don't know where they are coming from.  A couple of days ago, one came down the chimney, so I opened the fire door and let it outside, but today when I came back from the shops there were THREE of the monsters in my house and I'd only been gone an hour and all the windows were closed.  Does anyone know what they are and how to get rid.  They are REALLY scary.
  9. Loads of good advice, knowing how rural France is though, it will proably be totally different to all the answers you've given me.  Off to the local renault garage tomorrow for the first service on the car before the big drive home. I dare not ask any of you how much any of you have paid for a first service.  Can't wait to get back to the north of England for some tranquility.
  10. Do I have to leave a forwarding address for EDF and FT.  Don't have a direct debit set up with them, so how can they ensure payment (not thinking of doing a runner either!!!) As with the water, we're on mains drainage and water, will that still be the mairie??
  11. Please can anybody help.  I am returning to the UK at the end of August (husband already gone back and left me with everything!) and I need to sort out all the untilities and haven't got a single clue what to do.  I need to cancel the water, edf, france telecom and aol.  Can anybody tell me how I do it, who I have to inform and how much notice I have to give.  Can't even think straight at the moment with two buys 4 and 2 off school for ten weeks and all the last minute worries to tie up.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Dear All, I have just had a reply from a lovely lady who said she will take the cats, however, the only problem is, is that she is not going to arrive in Brittany until the end of September and I am leaving the end of August.  Does anybody know someone who would foster them for a month in enclosed surroundings so they wouldn't run away until the lady was able to collect them.  Any suggestion or recommendations would be MASSIVELY appreciated. Thank you
  13. Thanks for replying Christine.  I will try that now.
  14. Thank you so much.  I have put a posting in the pets section like you recommened, so hopefully something with come from that.  Thanks for all your help though.  Didn't realise it would be so hard to give them away. I thought I would have them for life.  They are part of the family.
  15. Dear all, I am in desperate need to find a loving home for two beautiful cats in 56.  My dilemma is, I am retutning to the UK in less than six weeks which isn't enought time to sort out quarantine, rabies, blood tests etc and I am moving into rented accommodation which will not accept pets. Oscar is a 7 year huge black and white neutered male.  Recently de-flead and de-wormed and has been microchipped.  Very laid back personality, looks a little bit like a cow but lovely personality. Billie, his adopted sister is also 7 years old is a  tabby neutered female.  Also recently de-flead, de-wormed and has been microchipped.  The most beautiful little girl cat you could ever hope to see.  Incredibly affectionate, very tolerant with children and a joy to own. Both cats were rescue cats when we got them 6 years ago and have grown into the most beautiful cats.  I am in 56 in Brittany but am prepared to travel a fair distance to find the right home for them.  They deserve that.  I have all the relevant paperwork on vaccinations that they had in England and will supply two free pet carriers and a months supply of food. Thank you for reading this posting.
  16. Thank you.  I will try the pet section.  If you were prepared to take them, I would drive to where you live.  How far is it from Brittany?
  17. That would have to be the last resort.  Poor little things spent about six months of their life in an animal shelter back in England. Thats where we rescued them from.  Oscar had been abused and had loads of fur missing and Billie had been dumped in a shoe box outside the shelter. I couldn't do that to them again.  There must be someone out there who could give them a loving home.  I'll just have to keep trying.  Thank you for your advice though.
  18. No, because with the time that it takes to get the rabies jab, then the blood test and then the issuing of the new passport, we won't have enough time.  Also we're moving into rented accommodation and we're not allowed pets.  Can you think of anything that I can do.  They are beautiful cats and I'm at my wits end what to do for the best.
  19. Dear all, I have advertised the cats with as many people as I know, on this forum and in the supermarket.  Things are getting really tight now because I am going back to the UK in less than six weeks and I DESPERATELY need to have the cats rehomed by then.  Does anybody have any other suggestions as to how I can do this. I'd offer to pay someone to foster them and find a new home for them if time runs out, but I'm concerned that people might only accept the money and then dump the cats.    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  20. To all you animal lovers out there, I am appealing for a good home for two beautiful cats we adopted from a rescue centre 6 years ago.   Oscar:- Liverpudlian, male, approx 7 years old, black and white, neutered, de-flead, de-wormed, microchipped, fat, lazy, snores, not overly affectionate but appreciative of a good bowl of nosh, seeks kindly owners to live out his days.  Will guard the house for free. Billie:- Liverpudlian, female, approx 7 years old, tabby, neutered, de-flead, de-wormed, microchipped, slim, green eyes, pink nose, doesn't snore (put prone to a little wind sometimes depending on what you feed her!), seeks kindly owners to sit on lap and nuzzle, purr and tread until the sun goes down. Both come with a pet passport and a free plastic pet carrier each. If you read this and are not interested yourself but know of someone genuine who might be, please contact me. Thanks for reading this posting.
  21. Can anybody tell me how i cancel my contract with Canal Satellite and what I do with the set top box, card and remote control.  Need to have it sorted out before I go back to England.   Thanks.
