I would not buy without sorting the access strip. In the UK ransom strips are common and deliberately set up and there are formula for calculating their value if you get planning permision for the 'locked land'. For the most part they arise in France because of the strict rules of inheritance. The younger French are more pragmatic about selling land and are used to the idea of needing many people to sort out the sale. Anton Redman ( sorry Isabel still have not resolved log in problem)

Thanks they advise a 'phone socket in each main room and the kitchen and recomment that the living room socker is placed close to the TV socket. The also say a 'T' piece is acceptable for the interim period. I will add it to the list of things to remember to do. The CONSUEL is liely to more help than EDF. The add reply 'button' at the top of the topic allows you to reply without quote. My main problem is that after more time than I care to think I cannot activate or recover my password. I have been reduced to the Cyber equivalent of a Brazilian and have had to accepted gender realignment to log in. We had our landline connected in July and French Independent contractor was surprised I had wired in two upstairs telephone sockets. Demands on the Consuel keep increasing but this is a new one on me and was not reflected in ‘pret a porte/turn key’ exhibition of properties which I went to in Bordeaux in August.
