Can anybody recommend a good French radio station to listen to in the UK, either on a radio or on the internet? Ideally a station with a mix of topics and discussions.

I should have made it clear that we don't have access to a landline in France - we are dependent on either a phone box or a UK mobile (tho would be prepared to buy a French SIM card if that worked out any less expensive overall)

Can anybody tell me what is the cheapest way to make phone calls from France to the UK? The options we know of are to use (1) a mobile phone (English), (2) a phone card of some sort from a phone box, or (3) coins from a phone box. All of these work out incredibly expensive - is there any way to cut the cost?

Agree with you about Brittany Ferries. They are now by far the most expensive routes across the channel. The 4 hour crossing with Transmanche to Dieppe is usually much less than Brittany and is about a quarter the price for a 4 day weekend. Although our house is about 45 minutes from Cherbourg we have taken to using Dover to Bolougne or even Dover to Calais and have not paid more than £50 for a return for 10 days  on the last several trips . It is a long drive but I refuse to be ripped off by the huge increase in costs on the Cherbourg route over the last year particularly for the extrras such as the cabins.We need some new competition on the western channel

I've heard that it's possible to buy a French SIM card for an English Orange mobile. Has anybody actually done this, and if so what did you ask for (in French)? What did the card cost, and assuming it is a pay as you go card on France Telecom mobile network, what sort of cost per minute are international calls?

We spend a lot of time at our house in France with only a U.K. based Orange mobile phone. I cannot find out exactly what combination of numbers I would have to dial to access the emergency services in france on this phone I dont want to experiment for obvious reasons. Does anyone know the deffinitive answer?

Have tried to E mail speedferries several times , also to ring. Cannot get their website to accept bookinge Speedferries are you still out there? Does anyone know?
