  1. Thanks Will. Just wondered if you knew if there was a web site for the sector governing Profession Liberale trades...maybe i could email them. Thanks, El
  2. Hi Will Regarding your answer to the post re minimum earnings...do you know if excemption from paying cotisations if you earn below a certain amount applies to all trades? Ie profession liberale etc.   Thanks, El
  3. sorry to veer off topic a wee bit but, re Profession Liberale (Tinks reply above): I am just considering the best way to set up to work in France. I can satisfy the critera to work as Profession Liberale due to the type of work i do but I was wondering if 20% of earnings would cover all social charges and taxes...I was worried about it being far worse. Its not the tax i am worried about so much as the healthcare contributions. My earnings would be less than 20,000 euros a year so not much. Is 20% as bad as it gets?   Thanks. El
  4. I`m looking for someone who could give lessons to improve on very basic spoken French. Needn`t be a teacher by trade, just a fluent French speaker with understanding nature! Not too worried about written French at this stage but would just like to improve on ability to deal with everyday communication (dealing with builders, going to the doctors, etc. etc). 15 mile radius of Souillac or Brive would be great!
  5. I have noticed (from their headed paper and adverts) some businesses here run by British people have a British company and then state their business in France as the `French office` of this company. What is the advantage of this? Does it excempt them from paying some of the healthcare contributions in France? Does anyone know if it is a `solution` for sole traders too...or just for Ltd companies? I just wondered why it`s done, I know some of the businesses that take this route are quite small and not companies with activities or branches i many many countries - one man bands in fact.   Helen
