  1. Yet another round.............oh well you did ask [:D]

Sharkhunter. I replied in the same way you have. You seem to have no reason to oppose one of my chosen pastimes rather than to ridicule it. Flying Indian Fighting Kites would probably be too difficult for you, it is an adult sport and needs skill, reading of the wind and sharp reflexes to name but three qualities of a good tangler. Meat eaters are to lethargic, unfit and boring, so do not excell in this activity.

I did not ridicule it offhand, i only replied in like, as a way of showing how unwarranted your initial posting was. Also, i am an adult and skilled in several sports, of my choice, i can also read wind, hence my ability to shoot targets at 300 mts plus in very windy conditions and  the need for sharp reflexes are without question in the art of clay pigeon shooting, as well as flying game, especially in windy conditions [:)] I wonder how many meat eaters excel  in the world of sports /athletics where speed, agility and stamina are but a few key qualities needed to compete at the highest levels. Meat eaters lethargic ?????

Please explain how killing sharks and wild boar is better than living at peace with the environment?

You got me there, hands up to that one.......don't know cos i haven't killed either of the two.

I personally know of three families that lost family members due to legal gun ownership. Guns have only one real use and it isn't for good.

Your suggestion that I am anything other than hetrosexual perhaps tells me more about your unusual need to dominate animals.

I am sorry that you have personal first hand experience of family bereavement caused by gun accident, can't be nice feeling.

Guns have only one use, to be shot, believe it or not its the people behind the guns that make the problems, guns don't go off on their own.

And finally, there was no intonation what so ever about you being anything other than hetrosexual and, doesn't someone/something need to be alive to be dominated, honestly, i shoot to kill because i want to eat what i shoot otherwise i would be a dominating cannibal, how weird would that be eh......

Imagine the scene....me shouting at a wild boar telling it not to move or i will come over and eat it, "and stop digging with your snout, you're making a bloody mess of the woods" right thats it, don't say you weren't warned.................munch munch [:P]

    And finally, nighty night................................Zzz

  2. Hakunmatata, i'm glad you have at least had some info that's of help to your original question and hope you get sorted with a club that suits you. As for the negative posts, well thats a forum for you, some good, some bad and obviously some very vicious attacks on your chosen topic/sport, especially from someone who chases small birds with FIGHTING kites, none of your run of the mill stuff, least wise not for those evolved members [:D]

Dog, why would you want to reply, and attack someone who has an interest in an activity, to a posting which you obviously are against, other than to cause trouble ?? Nobody has ridiculed you over your chosen activity even if it is a bit poncy standing on top of the hill in Montagrier flying a kite, kids play........................... ??

  3. Hakunamatata, i only gave an opinion on what i have seen on here re shooting, be it sport, hunting or target shooting there are still those who feel that it's not necessary to even own a gun. I shall neither fall out out with you nor anyone else on this forum when it comes to shooting, i enjoy it, immensely, others don't...........end of, as far as i'm concerned. I do not now try to explain myself, or justify the right to shoot cos it's a waste of time, a strong belief is just that and every one's right to have one.

Dog....why wonder what pleasures are to be gained !! have a go and form a justified opinion, if you have done so then good on you for that.

Wjt  I agree. I think Sharkhunter is a little confused. I don't think many

here have a problem with shooting targets ( I certainly don't) but many

of the more evolved members take umbrage to the notion that there are

still some in the world that take pleasure in killing or hurting

    animals for sport

I am not confused at all, if you read my posting i said all aspects of shooting, that my friend includes targets and clays ( no feelings involved Framboise [:)] ) As for being evolved !!! well lets leave you with that thought when you next have a nice piece of venison or wild boar [;-)] assuming you are not vegetarian. As an aside, although classed as a sport i hunt for the table, am i excused ( slightly ) [:P]

I am not trying to explain my involvement in the sport of shooting/hunting, see above, just replying to a post which is a courtesy [Www]

Oops, gotta go my venison is ready......yabbadabbadoo

  4. I too fully enjoy all aspects of shooting and fully endorse the right to shoot if you so wish, but not all do, it was just a bit of friendly advice.................to be taken or not. I'm sure with the arrogance in which you replied to me you will fight your corner perfectly well without the need for any help.

    Bon Chance.

  5. Hi all, my wife and i are looking at moving back to UK but do not want to sell our house here. Does anyone know the what the position is concerning renting houses that are under French mortgage laws? not that i know they are different from UK.

I am under the impression that Tax d' habitation that comes with your tax forms are both linked and therefore must be declared when renting/moving, any thoughts ??

Any help or advice will be gratefully received,

    Happypiker  ( and wife ) [:)]

  6. Well, talk about whingeing, the game is over, France are through and like all football results, you cannot change anything about it.

Eye in the Sky someone said, the football moguls will not allow this, irrespective of how good and sensible it is.

There will always be controversy about ' that penalty, he was offside, it was a goal and he did dive the cheating b"*^+rd, but at the end of the day nothing will change. And perhaps that is the best way forward, leave it well alone and give the guys on tv and down in the pub something to argue about....................hang on a minute, that makes me a hypocrite according to my opening statement..... Aah guys i guess that's just football eh, win lose or draw we can't help but moan about it [:'(]

  7. Hi Nick, screwing the bottom rail direct to the decking may cause problems in a few years with rot and equally as much with water penetration into the channel that accepts the square/oblong pieces of balustrade. Its best if you can raise the bottom rail up off the floor either using blocks ( same problem with rot ) or by using perhaps threaded bar with nuts recessed into the underside of the bottom rail and into the decking and then sleeve the threaded bar with maybe stainless steel or brass/copper tubing/pipe. If you are accurate you can also pre drill the bottom rail to accept a screw/coach bolt which can be inserted into the hole ( underside )and then fix spindles/balusters to rail invisibly.

The top rail can then be routed out to take spindles/balusters as per your original design, spacers can be bought as wood lenghts then cut to length to suit after ( cheaper ) and glued and tacked in place.

There is a Brico Marche here in Riberac that often have what you need in stock or can order or indeed you can go to Perigueux to Leroy Merlin or Brico Depot.

Best advice is take your time, measure twice ,cut once, go and have a cuppa, come back measure again to make sure, have a cigar [:)] and then whack it all together with a bit of glue.

Bets of luck tho i'm sure you will manage it very well with a bit of fore thought and careful planning.

    Hugh.

  8. I flew from Limoges to Stansted last week and the plane was 30 mins late in arriving/leaving but guess what, when we arrived in stansted they played their wonderful jingle to announce ' another ryanair flight on time' , i suppose technically it arrived within the specified flying time, but it still left late [:D]

    A ryanair fan

  9. Are you two happy to tolerate low standards in other things ?

Russethouse, for me its not a case of being happy to tolerate low standards, more of a ' you get what you pay for'

I can see no reason why someone who has contracted to do a job that

involves dealing with the flying public shouldn't do it with a

semblance of good manners, good grace and a smile - that 's the job

I totally agree with you, people employed in the public sector/service should deal with the public in a manner that they too would expect to be treated like, [:(] if only life was like it was meant to be eh !!!

If a shop assistant at Aldi or Netto was similarly off hand would you be happy with that too ?

No i would not and would probably be rude back to them, maybe even more so, but two wrongs don't make it right.

Also, the manager would be called and i would then be chucked out of the shop, in Ryanair's case that would involve the police waiting for me at the other end and delaying my onward flight for what......A cheap flight and a surly air stewardess [:D]

as Halfwit said in Big Brother ' i dont think so sonny jim '

  10. Hi, been following this topic for as long as its ran and so far have kept my opinions out, until now......GET A LIFE PEOPLE, if you can get from a to b and back relatively cheaply then go, if you don't like the airline or the guy then dont go...........simples.

Why waste your time and energy typing a complaint here, those who like them use them, those who don't, don't.

I dislike gardening, do i look at the gardening section and complain, No.

I know little about electronic technology, so why waste my time with it.....................

As in the hunting debates on here, you cannot change peoples minds so why waste your time trying.

And i use Ryanair all the time, i do not care if the staff do not lavish me with smiles and warm welcomes, i go on the plane, see them for an hour and rarely see them again, big deal they are unhappy in their jobs and they show it when serving you, take your seat, open your book and wait till the plane lands and get off, end of, job done.

    You and MOL are happy.

  11. A gun? Then you get the meat as well?

Hey JJ, i thought that too but wouldn't dare have said it for fear of the backlash, that may still come [:D]

    Get yer hard hat on

  12. Thanks guys, most of which is written above i read in Wikipedia, are the males smaller then females? i say this because i saw lots of small ones and then after i had cut the grass there seemed to be a lot of larger ones mixed in with smaller ones.

There are numerous openings all in one area, but seem to be far more bees than holes in the ground ?? Do they have a queen and other males in one nest hole ? Also, will they disappear soon??

    Hugh.

  13. Hi all, wondered if anyone can shed some light on my problem. I noticed last week there were a few bees hovering around the grass area where my underground fosse' is situated. There are now twice as many so i googled bees to see what info i could find and from what i gleaned is that the queen digs/burrows and then lays eggs etc. I have checked today and there are 20/30 different holes in the ground and they all have bees in or out at some point. Are these honey bees ? Will they go away when it gets colder or hibernate underground ? I imagine my Fosse is concrete, 30 years since house was built, is that a reason for being there eg , heat ?

Any info that can be shed on this greatly appreciated or advice on what to do next, they are not a problem at the moment but seem to be increasing, Hugh.

  14. Hi Mik, not 100% but it may be a local census organised by/for the chasse to keep a head count of local herds/stocks, this info is used by the hunt organisers to regulate the amount and ages of game that can be taken by the local chasse. EG ; perhaps 3 adult males, 1 adult female and 3/4 juveniles, that will regulate the male populus thus keep a healthy head count, one female to keep breeding populus under check and juveniles also to keep stock control. I have said that i'm not sure about this so i can be corrected and also the numbers will be greatly different, the above are examples only, hugh.
