  1. I am an administrator of a private Facebook group called “After Brexit Brits living in the EU27” The description of the group is as follows We are “AFTER BREXIT BRITS who are resident in the EU27” but retain some links with Britain. After Brexit we all have a common interest as over time Britain may drift away from the EU and we need to create a strong community of Brits across the EU27. We believe peoples ignorance of the EU led to Brexit so our primary objective is to learn more about the EU and the 27 countries within it. We are also creating a knowledge base of the 27 countries and subjects like travel, food, rules and regulations and traditions using TOPICS. There are plenty of groups that are anti Brexit. This group is for those who support the EU and are MOVING ON from Brexit. We are friendly. We are pro European but not naive. We are not here to attack anyone including each other, The United Kingdom or the British Government. • We are a private group so only members can see our membership and our content. We are heavily underrepresented by Brits Living permanently in France. is this because of the delays by French communes in issuing the (WARP) or as it is also known the Biometric withdrawal agreement residents permit.
  2. I have had a few in the last few month. I just pop them in my trash bin. Goodbye.
  3. After 8 years with a Samsung 46inch we have finally bought a new fancy up to date smart TV. As this is our main TV we were prepared to spend. Finally chose a Samsung QLED Q9 55 inch. We have a dish with a double LNB in the garden with two decoders connected to the TV. A HUMAX for U.K. TV that has a hard disc for recording and a STRONG for French TV which does not record and is quite old. One of the fancy things the new TV does is allowing control of the Decoders on screen which means the “one remote” which comes with the TV can control everything. However small problem. When the TV was set up it immediately recognised the HUMAX but while “seeing” the STRONG did not recognise the model. While it can be switched on as it comes up as “unknown HDMI 2” Channel changing needs the use of the “old” remote. So looking to buy a new “French” decoder Perhaps with RECORDING capabilities in France (we live just across the border in Luxembourg) Has anyone have a particular recommendation for a decoder and have I heard correctly that there are some changes coming in 2019 with French Satelite TV. Thanks.
  4. We have the same issue. I have been suspending (October) and reactivating (March) our Orange Land line and Internet for a number of years. This has been moderately simple. Call the English speaking help line 00 33 969 363900 and after a wait tell them to do it and all very simple. In March 2018 I was told by the Orange help line it was all changing and in future I would have to take an annual contract (for my 7/8 months use) So I was able to reactivate but have to make a decision in October, or before because there may be a cancellation period/penalty!!! So here we are in early August wondering what to do. We use the WiFi internet for two IPads and two smart phones. We are not heavy users some you tube videos, a rare NETFLIX film, podcast downloads and email. The fixed line phone is almost more trouble than it is worth as most calls (2/3 a day) are telemarketing. I would be happy to kiss it goodbye. So what do we do. First thoughts with “free” roaming in the EU (we live and have phone contracts in Luxembourg so Brexit is not an issue for roaming) is to use the smart phones as hot spots. Someone has suggested buying a “dongle” and buy data from a French provider and use that as a hot spot. This change of policy by Orange has woken me up to the fact that there are or may be better solutions for temporary internet and perhaps Orange are going to do me a favour. I would welcome any help in finding a solution.
