  1. Thanks to Spider & pomme for your suggestions.  We've had a good look again at our online returns and have done exactly the same as last year.

We have put our government pensions & UK rental incomes in box 6 of 2047 rather than 8 so perhaps that's where the error lies.
Next step is rdv at the Tax Office if I can find a suitable gap in the World Cup fixtures!
Sorry to come across as a numpty but we've only got 3 sources of income and have been filing returns here for 10 years without too many problems, until now!
    Many thanks again.

  2. On a slightly different tack, we've just noticed that we are being charged under revenue a la source.  We've never paid any French tax in the previous 10 years we've lived here, our income consisting of UK government pensions, UK rental income, both taxed in the UK plus  UK old age pensions.
We think we may have messed up our declaration des impots as our income (with the poor exchange rate) hasn't increased since last year.
On 2042, we put government pension in 1AL &1BL, OAPs in 1AM and 1BM, UK rental income in 4BE &4BK and the total of government pensions and UK rental income in 8TK
On 2047 we put our OAPs in 1/11 and ticked prive and in 6 the same figures from 2042 to give the total in 8TK ie. UK rental income and government pensions.
Can anyone see a glaring error or should we make a rdv down at the tax office?
    Many thanks.

  3. Thanks for all your replies.  I'd not thought of the cockup theory but wondered whether I'd missed something on the day.
I've checked with my CPAM and they said contact the hospital directly which I've done; surprise, surprise, I've heard nothing back!
Next step is to send a further response, together with a copy of my CPAM attestation/Carte Vitale plus my mutuelle.
    Thanks again.

  4. On holiday back in June I went to Parthenay urgences for a couple of stitches after cutting my hand with a knife.  It was a Sunday morning and after a couple of hours I was stitched up and away having presented my carte vitale.
Now, 3 months later I've received a bill for my treatment despite having a carte vitale and a mutuelle and I don't know why.
I've contacted my CPAM in Gap and they said contact Parthenay which I've done by email but have yet to receive a reply.
Any ideas as to why I've been charged would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  5. We are like you Minnie, and haven't employed anyone or had any work done on the house.  We've never paid social charges either as we receive the UK state pension.
The mystery deepens; makes up for losing the heating allowance somewhat!

  6. Have just got our Avis d'Impot and am pleasantly surprised to find we have received a payment of €286.
We have never paid a centime of French income tax or social charges as our government pensions are taxed in the UK. The "Montant de votre impot" figure has been zero for the last 10 years.
We're not complaining but is there a simple explanation for this?
    Thanks.

  7. Thanks David, think we've got that now!  Good use made of a wet day, both French and UK tax returns done for another year.

For anyone else following this post, for us the big step was ticking the micro foncier box as our rental income was significantly less than €15 000.

2042: UK Box 1AL Government pension (gross), Box 1AM UK state pension, Section4 Micro foncier Box 4BE and 4BK UK rental profit (gross), 8TK this should fill in automatically from the total of 1AL and 4BE

2047: Section 1/11 UK state pension, Section 6 UK rental income and UK government pension.

We think this is correct, fingers crossed.

  8. We are retired UK teachers with S1 forms and rental income from a UK property plus UK OAPs.
On 2047 we've put OAP in 1AL and 1 BL, Rental income plus Government pensions (gross) in 8TK.
On 2042 we've put OAP in 1AL and 1BL, Rental in 4BA and tax paid in 8VM.

It didn't spit this out so we are hoping it's correct.  Does anyone agree with this?

    Thanks.

  9. Good news at last!  Having sent off my application in March 2018, I have just received my attestation and have sent off my UK licence.  I'm now modestly optimistic that I may receive my French licence before my UK one expires in a few weeks time!
14/15 months for some paperwork that would take a fonctionnaire about 5 minutes seems less than efficient.
Don't give up if you're still waiting.

  10. Good news at last; my wife's new licence arrived today, just over 10 months since she sent off her application.
Mine was posted at the same time and I'm still waiting.  I am 70 in the summer and anticipate receiving my licence shortly before my birthday; hope I'm not being naively optimistic!
Thanks to all posters for their help and shared experiences.

  11. We applied to change our UK licences for French ones in early March.
My wife turned 70 in early November so was pleased to receive her Attestation de depot de permis de conduire this week.
She is now legal and has sent off her UK licence and just waits patiently for her shiny new French one.
The system works but remember this is Escargotland!
    Be patient and good luck.

  12. I emailed CERT yesterday by following this link and this morning received the following.

    "Bonjour,

    La demande

    d’échange

de permis à bien été enregistrée le 04/04/2018.

Le délai de traitement est de 7 mois environ mais peu s’avérer

    plus long dans certain cas.

    Nous traitons actuellement les

    dossiers reçus début décembre.

    Bien cordialement

    NF, CERT"

So, we're in the system and simply have to be patient; I think geological time advances faster than the fonctionnaires at CERT!

  13. Thanks sid,
Has she received the accuse de reception for the November application or is it for the more recent re-application.
Having not yet received an accuse de reception for our licences sent in early April, we are thinking of sending fresh applications.  What do you think?
Pretty cheesed off with the whole set up I'm afraid, but any info/suggestions gratefully received!

  14. We're having a few difficulties filing online this year.  We have filed unfurnished UK rental income in 4BE and 4BK; is this correct?  This also appears on 2047 in the section Revenus imposables ouvrant droit a credit d'impot etc.

Haven't had the OK as yet from the tax office.  Have we done the right thing?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  15. We also sent ours off in April and haven't heard a thing.  I've read that we should have recieved an attestation de depot .  Has anyone any light to shed on this or details of how to contact CERT?  I cannot understand how a public service is able to get away with  such inefficiency.
