  1. My partner had 9 years NI record - would get 0 pension at UK retirement age. For £824 we bought one more year which at current rates would pay her 2500 pa at retirement. We have not bothered with any more years as the uplift is small, but the 10 year threshold is a no-brainer. We had to write to them, wait ages, reply confirming that we wanted to proceed, but I still had to call to check what to do next - not very clear. Once you’ve established the correct class of NIC you need to pay, you then make an electronic payment with an extremely SPECIFIC reference involving correct spacing etc. The guy on the phone detailed its to me and i was amazed how un user friendly it was. I found a document - attached- which confirmed what he said. After Eight weeks or so, the extra year was credited to her account and that’s a very good investment.
  2. Up until jan 31st we are Eea members resident in France so entitled to the ruyter exemption on social charges. After we aren’t.... Would they change our tax treatment mid year? So for gains up to 31st Jan in one box and after in another? Will this ruyter exemption continue anyway if S1 is going to continue to provide healthcare. So ruyter ruling extended to brits under these circumstances? Lots of questions. Not so many answers... Anyone have any ideas?
  3. My advice. Don’t fill out any forms yet. That site was set up to deal with ‘no deal’. There will be a withdrawal deal which will possibly produce a eu response for U.K. citizens in Europe (as opposed to a purely French route). So dashing to fill out the French form may result in having to start again. There’s no rush and I’d suggest letting the dust settle. There will be acres of advice...... I have friends who tried to get a carte de séjour - just frustrating and unnecessary. There will be a clear way forward. The French were surprisingly quick, but a pan eu diktat , as we all know, is sometimes the most beneficial! All the best for 2020
  4. Applying is neither here nor there as all was on hold until the departments got their go ahead to pay. Early September they had that. Letters confirming dégrèvements came out by mid sept It then got a bit fuzzy with lots of letters and emails but all saying the same good news Transfers 2 Cheque eventually 1 by end October Email with interest amount x 3 end October Paid within a week. They aren’t like a dodgy creditor really. Slow maybe but no conspiracy to hang on to money. IMHO
  5. I’ve only gone and spent it all. Anyone know anything else we can claim on?
  6. Ok. Last post from me. All three interest payments arrived in our account today. The cheque for thé third and remaining year cleared yesterday.. Regarding these reimbursements - It is real. It has been approved. It will work it’s way through. Enjoy!
  7. yes go for it! The inspector actually apologised to me for the delay and the muddled cheque/transfer....I told her that according to this forum I'm the only person in France to get reimbursed and not to worry...
  8. Well, maybe I live in a less popular area for claimants?? I can't blooming believe it - they've now just sent a breakdown of interest and I tell you what, it's a lot more than you'd get in a bank deposit account. 10% For the 2015, paid in 2016 6.4% for the following year paid in 2017 3.85% on the amount paid in 2018 I know I'm dreaming but it's a real nice one, don't wake me.....
  9. Just got good news. Inspector at local office rang me, left a VM and sent an email to say they have my cheque and would I like to come collect as it’ll be quicker than them posting. Also they’ve calculated the interest on all three amounts and will be transferring directly to our bank account.. I must’ve done something right (in a previous life)... So in case it helps I submitted claims originally via secure message on impôt website. Eventually got messages to say it had been sent to the juridique people in Nîmes to assess. Crucially I was given contact details and three reference numbers. After that I contacted Nîmes directly (not website) and was told my up to three different people replying to one mail, that my claims had been verified but that they were waiting on national team to give instructions. This duly happened end of summer and now by combo of emails to both department and local I have a result. There is no reason they would hang on to your money, ONCE your claim is verified. If I can be of any assistance don’t hesitate.
  10. Try to find someone here [email protected] These are the guys who tell the local offices what to do If you dm me I’ll give you my inspector who may not be yours but might help. Can’t publish it cos he might get the hump!!
  11. Not sure I concur. A national decision was finally made and transmitted to the relevant body in each department. They in turn assess the validity of the claims and pass on to local offices to implement the refunds. No reason I see why it would spin out in the way you suggest. Have you got any useful responses/reference numbers? It went to the departmental juridique office and I got hold of them. Using the reference number you’ve hopefully had for each claim seems to ease communications hugely. Good luck
  12. 30. Not sensitive!! Although in my case truer to say am getting rather than got. Still waiting on one dégrèvement and (no doubt) three separate intérêts moratoires Happy to help
  13. That’s good news. I’ve had two transfers safely received for ‘16 and ‘17. The cheque (!) for ‘15 never arrived so we’re apparently “checking procedure”for that. Interest definitely is payable so keep asking. It seems to be separately done and later than principal payment. I haven’t had this yet but they’re ‘looking’ at it.
  14. Update Chased the senior tax guy in Nîmes who said to me “Don’t worry it’s all coming, and remember they need to add interest”. Nice He also gave me the local tax office to follow up with. Again nice. Sent them an email and they replied to me half a day later. Really nice.. They apparently sent a cheque for one amount on 24/9. Never received. They issued a virement for another amount last week. Not yet received. No mention of third amount or interest. So they’re still making me work for it! Why some cheque some transfer absolutely beats me...
  15. Congrats My letter was dated the 5th September saying payment would be made automatically assuming up to date with payments. (We are). Still nothing. Inspector said to expect 2-3 weeks but it wasn’t his department. Maybe they’re waiting until the autumn “whip round” is complete.
  16. And... the Gard wins... Just received up a very official letter saying they accept my request and are paying in full for 2015,2016 and 2017. Payment will be automatically credited to my bank account. No interest but tbh who cares?? amounts stated are exactly the amounts requested. Hopefully yours will all arrive very soon.
  17. Hi again. Expecting three years of social charge refunds. Been chasing the super friendly tax people in Nîmes every now and then. This is the latest FYI Monsieur, Des instructions ont été données par l'administration centrale. Votre dossier sera donc traité très prochainement (septembre ou octobre, probablement). Bien cordialement.
  18. I’d like to nominate those guys and girls at the department juridiques in Nîmes as the politest bunch of tax inspectors. My original email was forwarded to three people and of the four involved three have replied. Admittedly to say it’s still all ongoing but hey.....
  19. We could always then appeal to the ECJ. Oh wait a minute....
  20. Just got this after chasing up my local office who'd referrred it to the department (Gard) office in Feb... Seems like a nice man...
  21. Thanks for that post - as a result, I've now given up checking whether they will suspend my first payment 2016 as I requested - it's clear they won't.... Have paid and will watch with interest (haha) as the year pans out to see if we'll get it all back or not. Will of course bang in online claims each time I pay just to keep the pressure on...
  22. Hi! I checked the website yesterday and found that I am being asked to pay the first instalment of Social charges relating to 2015 on the basis of one-third of what I was charged last year (relating to 2014) Interesting as they reimbursed me everything I was charged last year in the middle of December - along with the amounts relating to the previous two years. So either they are on automatic pilot, or they are trying it on, or they have changed the basis of the charge for 2015 retrospectively.?. I have not seen anything definitive regarding this matter... Anyway as parsnips suggests I have applied for a 'sursis' of the amount demanded furnishing them with the exact same argument as last time and copies of S1. Will keep you informed!
  23. Hi - I have the same letter. I contacted the named correspondant at the tax office (using the email address on top of the letter) and received an immediate response saying no they couldn't give me a date but that it had gone to the 'comptable' service for payment. So thats good. BTW - the calculations shown include positive interest but a deduction (13.5% not 15.5%) for years 2012 &2013. 2014 however is being refunded fully (15.5%) - no interest tho..
