  1. We have a maximum number of guests of 4, we provide enough crockery/cutlery (we think) for 8. Assuming guests have breakfast and one meal in our cottage, then the dishwasher will be used once a day. But often there are just 2 guests only. (And sometimes I expect they have friends to dinner, so there are more) Only a guess, but I provide the tablets, salt etc, and it isn't used more than once a day on average - if that!!

spot on re the washing machine space!!! Our cottage had existing plumbing in the bathroom for a washing machine, so ours had to go there. I'm not very comfortable with this - but I just hope guests find it quaint, and very French!!! [;-)]

  3. We have a dishwasher - we get good feedback from our visitors saying it did influence their decision. We have quite a large kitchen so no space issues. Personally, if I was in self-catering accomodation, I would prefer one! [:)]

  4. Hi!!

We have got permission to replace an old wooden door into to our Grenier with a window and shutter. Question - the door is effectively at floor level (used for hauling grain in etc). When we instal the new window I wondered if there are any building regs - ie as window goes down to floor do I need bars outside?

    thanks!

  5. L - no offence taken, not sure why you think so? Probably my dodgy use of icons - I can't get the hang of them.

Thanks ref the Vet - I'll ring the one in La Haye now I know I won't be making a complete idiot of myself!!!

I actually work in Bridport, just North of West Bay - lots of apartments being built there now. Know the restaurant but not eaten there. (Live near Bere Regis)

    thanks for all the comments!!

  6. Clair is spot on. With our rentals we have in our T's & C's that guests must have their own liability insurance as whilst our insurers would pay for incidents, they would seek to recover  their costs from the guest if they caused the incident.

  7. I wrote and told CA I didn't need the letter, but they told me I had to have as system generated. And even if they could stop it, they would still charge!!

I use Moneybookers.com for smaller amounts - the small % fee is offset by a good exchange rate, I feel. And CA don't charge to receive the money.

  8. Hi. I see from the new BF timetable that although they said that whilst the Barfleur was being serviced there would be replacement service, there is now a gap in March. Also - am I reading it correctly - there is an overnight seacat crossing in August?

    cheers!!

  9. this is the same with Mozilla too. I've paid all my taxes online, and wanted to check my account and when I try to log on to 'my space' it tells me that a certificate is missing, and to my knowledge I've never had a certificate before. Perhaps the impots.gouv.fr site has been upgraded?

Does anyone know how I get the certificate?

    thanks
