  1. Hello! We have a small holiday home on the Calvados/Manche border. We do have a local keyholder, who keeps an eye on the place for us. However, for the last 3 years we have been tending the garden ourselves during our breaks and have now conceded that we need some help! The key thing we need some help with is grass cutting and keeping the brambles/nettles at bay. We have mower, strimmer etc etc on site. The garden is not much (but we love it) - some rough grass, a hodge podge of hedging etc. We are deliberately trying not to over-cultivate, as we have heaps of wildlife and some beautiful wild flowers/plant (including orchids). We have planted a butterfly border, but that tends to look after itself, as we put down that weed matting and lots of mulch. If you are interested drop me a note. Thanks very much! Helen
  2. We have a house near St Martin des Besaces. Bought as a holiday home, but the intention is to spend more and more time there........ We always have space at the table and a glass of wine going for like minded folk! Helen
  3. Not got one yet, however there is a patch of land in our garden in Normandy earmarked for one. Once I have the energy, money and the time it is going to be a reality. I must admit I was going to source the components in the UK and via the magazines. Quite a few of the mail order companies advertise international shipping. I have also seen some bargain bits and pieces on Ebay from time to time. Good luck with the railway. Helen
  4. Thank you all so much for your helpful advice. I think we will try and get the meter moved. Best wishes, CCR
  5. I have scanned our information from EDF to no avail. So here goes can anyone help with the following query (before I brave the French phonecall to EDF). We would really like to build a sunroom on the front of our house. We have the space and no neighbours to overlook just lovely countryside with wonderful sunsets. The problem is our electricity cupboard is inset into the front wall. Do EDF insist on permanent access to the meter cupboard? If so has anyone had to have their cupboard moved and is it a hugely costly process? Any advice/information would be gratefully received. Thank you!
