Didn't think the point would have been made so quickly.

From the perspective of someone wishing to get information from this site it is a nightmare when new topics ( programmes/concerts whatever) are introduced in the same thread. If you wish to have conversations with certain individuals then exchange emails. It is most frustrating when one sees a message saying that I have said something to you ( but I don't want everybody else to know!) or is addressed to only one person as if nobody else is concerned.I would suggest that people start a new thread with an appropriate title whenever a new topic arises.

This useful post recently happened."Minty.Check your PMs!!Big Smile [:D]"Is this thread past its sell by date. Like the other thread one can't use it as a reference as it is so disjointed.

Three years + ago this comment was made:"You are absolutely right of course, Norman.Would you, or someone else, like to do an Index of the 28 pages ?The 'Diner de Con' just drifted into this thread via the variations in language and meaning of the word 'juste'."Is this thread past its sell by date?

I don't think that he can be credited with the word Californication. The big picture was written in 1997 and the word was in use well before then.

Well Chancer, you have done well. You have brought Brexit into painting walls in France. We have plenty of emulsion that we acquired through the English market over the last few years. However looking at prices/quality over last summer when decorating house chez England I was starting to think that even the cost advantage of buying paint in England compared to France was now in doubt. The cheap paint in England was c**p (not good) and on a par with the quality (and price) of French paint.I'd be interested in confirmation of Chancers comment.

I did say professional.Your statement was absurd - it implies there are no incompetent accountants. Again, another example of not seeing the wood for the trees.Just one word - Enron
-
Gluestick wrote:"As a qualified accountant, then the man you cite cannot be an accountant; since items of value, assets, receivables, debts etc must clearly be taken into account or the end result is a false statement."Just one topical professional person Gluestick though I think there are loads more - "Christine".
-
Wooly - you miss my point. Rigorous methods are obviously a necessity to be taught, but not by pedantic (see definition) teachers. I'm sure you know of the accountant who tries to account for every penny, yet misses out a material factor worth perhaps millions.
-
Gluestick - for someone who appears to be so pedantic I am surprised that you have not "researched" the word using dictionaries. For example - "excessively concerned with minor details or rules; overscrupulous" is not a flattering description for a teacher. Especially true for those of artistic talent but also true for sciences.Excessive ramblings can lead to a loss of the bigger picture would you not say?
-
Gluestick wrote"These Masters were leaders, excellent pedagogues, as well as damned men!"Not a description that gives them much credithttps://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pedagogueAnd can't women be good teachers or was there other things going on.

Gluestick wrote"Now, none of us can really know what anyone else is actually thinking. And I do agree with Nick, so many of those posting in favour of a continued EU membership, clearly had/have a personal axe to grind. Rather than considering the Pros and Cons holistically and subjectively."I now see where you are coming from - no objective reasoning
-
So....... Chief EU negotiator is a clown. Maggie May is beginning to look rather out of her depth methinks. I suspect that the clowns in the Uk (you know who you are) are getting worried and the leading UK clowns are going to have to pay a lot of money to the PR people to continue the ongoing deceptions to the gullible masses of the UK electorate ( Scotland excluded). Chief June ( Really May but she has to delay her comments until she has discussed with her spin doctors) has already got the privileged people behind her but has to spin to con the majority of people. I assume that the grammar/private educated think themselves as privileged. To a certain extent that is true (me sort of included). The real privileged, however, are those who have MONEY and not by their own endeavours.I suppose what I am saying is that the real clowns are the voters that have been conned. Before Gluestick reiterates the Churchill quote: Churchill was the master of the con. Or very luck to survive when many of his subordinate solders did not, and I am not talking just about the second world war.Rant over, but the tone of this forum is getting rather outrageous.

So - 15.54 I post, and 17.46 you post. After at least a week and before that months.

I thought that you posted after I posted on another thread. Please don't troll me.

Kebabs and houses seems to me to be a bit of a stupid diversion from the topic. In terms of type of house, Mrs Windsor, can I suggest that you look on any Estate agent website.
-
Should all be on the CESU website, including various rates.Just one word of warning - if you employ the person regularly for any length of time, then they are likely to sue you for extra money if/when you terminate the employment.

The only improvements to Star Trek in the last few years has been the quality of the animation.Science progresses mainly by very minor improvements over time. Very rarely are there seismic shifts in progress and these are mainly unpredictable.

Thread seems to have moved on from just cars. For the old nerds here can you remember "Tomorrows World". The predictions in that programme have not all materialised, but, by jove, technologically the world is a far different place (for those that can afford) than then.

Some moderator should be ashamed. Personally attacking a members is against the forum rules and there have been 3? unwarranted attacks on this thread alone. Re-reading the thread and it will be plain that albf made a reasonable comment, yet was attacked unnecessarily. Probably in frustration he responded and changed a vowel (or two). This should have been corrected a long time ago. Other people should go.

Thank you for the explanation. One could argue, and I would, that most employed people are therefore privileged.
-
Still not sure why they are a privilege. Still think that an efficient system for administration is a necessity. Still think that, with some excellent exceptions, politicians are money grabbing self-centred career people. I do agree that current systems need major overhaul. I thought that is what I pretty much said.

Gluestick thank you for describing Parkinsons law which I am sure everybody, including myself, is aware of. However please address the points raised in the post.
Clair, are you paying attention? Useful expressions!
