  1. Newbie with a serious lack of willpower here.

Found this link and read how everyone has there ups and downs and figured I'd probably do better if I HAD to do a weekly confession as to how I am getting on.

Only started dieting yesterday, but I've a long history of yo-yo dieting, promising myself each time I start that THIS IS IT, this is the major life change, not just a diet.

Ashamed to admit that as little as 7 months ago I was within 9lbs (4kgs) of my goal weight and became a little too complacement and let myself slip again - within 7 months I put 24lbs (11kgs) back on.  After Christmas I began again and lost 13lbs (6kgs) - but yep, you guessed it - a stressful period in my life and I'm back up 10lbs.  Now that's extreme yo-yo'ing.

My goal is to shift 28lbs (13kgs) and keep it off - I don't mind the slow and steady approach, and can fit in a bit of exercise, so who knows this time with this thread, I just might make it?

Well done to all those who've achieved their goal weight - and best of luck to those who are still en-route.

  2. I'm with you that a blood test is not required to get a passport unless you're in the UK.  We're not actually in the UK but the Netherlands, and the rabies jab and passport were issued on the same day.

Thanks for the tip about getting the blood test done in France in case we end up back in the UK, chances are that we won't move to the Uk after France, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

  3. There seem to be alot of requirements above the rabies jab here, I've read of blood tests, worming, tic & flea treatment.  Could anyone tell me if this is a requirement to enter France, or a requirement for returning to the UK?

We're moving to France with our dog - she's chipped, we have her passport and she has an up-to-date rabies vaccination, but nothing more other than the usual annual vaccinations - kennel cough, etc.  From what I've seen of the French requirements - this is enough.

  4. I personally don't find the term 'newbie' insulting, in fact I find it quite helpful as people reading my questions (some of which may come across as a bit naive) make allowances to the fact that I've just joined the site.

No doubt the people who've got hang-ups about it will blow this out of the water - but what the heck!

  5. Hi, until 5 minutes ago I knew absolutely nothing about donkey or horse care, however a quick search of the internet turned up a NZ donkey care page, which seems to give answers to alot of your questions.  The site is...   http://www.homestead.com/DonkeysNZ/Care.html

The most important piece of info. which I spotted is the fact that donkey's do need a shelter - so it looks like you'll have to wait until you've built one.

  6. Great to see the long term rental in Poitiers seems to have been resolved.

Is there anyone out there who can offer me the same advice for a property within a half hour commute of Niort? (Preferably between La Rochelle and Niort, but any direction considered).

Information on local letting agents/estate agents or from someone who owns a property to let would be welcomed.

Ideally we'd like a minimum bedroomed house (4 or more preferred) for a period of up to, but not limited to, 2 years.  Furnished or unfurnished.  A safe garden for the kids and dog would be great. Anything else would be a bonus.

    Thanks
