  1. Is there anywhere that I can find out how much the tax fonciere is for a property. I have been given 3 different amounts from different agents
  2. Hi Kong, I second that. Delete it fast. It a new scam, I have also had the same sort of thing but they said they were from London, otherwise the wording was almost the same. rgds Lisa
  3. I'm getting confused now, (easily done I know). Coquelicot wrote that  The 71% abatement is only for meublé des tourisme classes by a recognised organisation. And classé is not the same as having a label which only entitles you to 50%. As for which organisations are recognised - it doesn't look to me as if GDF is the only one. So WHO is the recognised organisation? Lisa[8-)][8-)]

    Yew trees

Thank you Craig, just what I needed to know, never thought of doing topiary, I think the smaller one has been 'squared' off at some point in its life so might just get it back into shape to start with. rgds Lisa[:D]
  5. I agree that GDF are expensive to join which is why we are going with Cleavances, also they have been MUCH more helpfully in answering all my obscure questions. Only 1 B&B in my immediate area is with GDF but they also have gites, everyone else is with Clevances so they will not be happy about it. Also won't this give GDF a monopoly over the rental sector, does France not have monopoly rules?  rgds lisa
  6. Thanks Quillan. I hope they do change their minds as it would scrubber all our plans before they started. rgds lisa
  7. Hi Quillan, Do you find out anymore information about this? rgds lisa

    Yew trees

Thank you both for your replies. James, Thank you, I knew about the cancer treatment as my step-daughter had treatment for cancer 2yrs ago made with Yew but I don't know who I would contact here in France about it. Pierre ZFP, Thanks for the information, I didn't know about the bow making. I knew they make furniture and the cancer treatment from the trees. The large tree must be at least 7m tall as it is nearly as tall as the house and has numerous branches coming off it which are the bits I want to cut back, maybe I should advertise the bits on eBay and see what I could get, it would certainly help to tame the rest of the garden. Yew trees

Hi, Can anyone tell me, if you can cut/trim back Yew trees. We will be inheriting a garden which has 2 Yew trees. One has been cut/trimmed at some time in its life as it is compact but the other is a tree. Can I 'top it out', like a conifer and also cut back some of the branches and when is the best time to do it. rgds lisa
  10. It's what I thought, The brick window surround is still in place and there is a 2m high wall and trees at the back of the property and no neighbour over looking that side, so should be good to go. Thank everyone. That's One more thing ticked off the ever expanding list of things to check and do. rgds lisa
  11. Hi, Do we need to obtain permission from the town hall to re-open a old window that was bricked up at the back of the house. rgds lisa
  12. Thank you for all your replies. They have been a great help in making the murky water a bit clear. The next thing now is looking for a mutelle any recommendations, I know this is another mine field as the level of cover is not always what you would assume to be 100%. rgds lisa
  13. Sorry, if this has been asked before. My husband is on high-blood pressure tablets and blood thinning tablet. Here in the UK he just take the repeat. prescriptions to BOOTs and they sort it out and he collects his tablets 5 days later. In France, could someone tell us the following:- a) do we have to go to the doctors every month to get a repeat prescription and pay the doctors fee. b) how much do high blood pressure and blood thinning tablets cost, My Husband is 75, so will have his S1 but I understand that you pay up front and then claim back the money. Any clarification would greatly help as everything I seem to read contradicts itself in the next chapter. from a very confused lisa
  14. Thank you TB, this is just the format I needed plain and simple rgds lisa
