1.
Yes, but also note the last point in my post about French 'European' licences from 2013.
Thanks Another, noted...good point.
2. So before my thread goes off topic completely towards European Drving Licences, the consensus of opinion/advice is just to sit it this out and not make the change towards a French driving licence for the sake of 1 point, unless "told" otherwise!
3.
Is that on just one side of the road or both sides of the road?
I have only checked it once since the speeding incident, ie the side I was clocked on!..and there is definitely no sign with 90 in the middle..the camera is there though! I do not know about the approach from the other direction, as I did not return the way I came. Either way, it won`t happen again.  :-(
4.

Thanks to all who replied. It turns out that the speed limit had been reduced recently from 110kmph to 90kmph on that part of the motorway and there has been no warning sign erected to warn road users of the change!
You must have missed the big round sign with the 90 in the middle. Or were you expecting them to have erected an even bigger sign warning everyone that the limit had been changed.........[;-)]
Bad choice of words, I meant that there is no big round sign with 90 in the middle.

6. Having today just received my first ever speeding fine through the post (5km/p/h over the limit) and having paid it immediately online, I am now aware that I should change my UK driving licence for a French one to have the 1 penalty point deducted. I am just enquiring how long I have to do this as we hope to be moving back to the UK in about 6 months time, and do not really want to have to go to the expense and hassle of changing it and then changing it back again.
7. Yes, good idea Sunday Driver, I will do just that.
8. I will just print off an online copy of my UK bank statement and blank out all the transactions and balance etc, but leave the entry where the pension is paid in, that will have to do them, as its all I have!
9. quote from user cooperlola...If it's just proof of life then I'm sure they don't need a translation do they? Have they actually asked for this in French, Stan? I have to provide loads of stuff every year for my CMU-B and the English versions are always fine. I'm sure your bank statement would do them. Yes cooperlola, it was asked for in French....it says "Perecevez - vous une pension versee par un état membre de la CEE autre que la France?, si OUI, joindre le récépissé, talon de mandat ou relevé bancaire correspondent au dernier arréage versé" I will just send them a page of my bank statement although I hope they accept a printed off version as I only have online banking.
10. Sorry, cannot get the "quote " button to work..all I get is gobbledegook..... A bit wrong AnOther, my position is that I receive an ill health pension which negates any IB payment, but I still retain an "underlying entitlement" to IB. Therefore, as being entitled to IB (although not actually receiving anything), I qualified for an E121 for myself and my wife.
11. Thats the strange thing though isn`t it? I dont receive anything from IB and that has no bearing on my pension. Then again trying to even ask for, or obtaining a translated confirmation of entitlement from IB would be would be imaginably impossible...
12. So, a printed off copy of my UK bank acount showing payment of my UK pension is all that is required to prove I am alive? The mere fact that I was at my doctors a few days ago doesn`t prove it?
13. I have a carte vitale due to having form E121 (entitlement to UK Incapacity benefit, but receive nothing due to having ill health pension). T oday I received a letter from CPAM wanting evidence of my pension. They say they need this every year. Why is this?
14. There are no T&Cs with this company. Their website is pretty basic, and thinking about, I would have thought that they would have something about international legalities, given the fact they claim to be a shopping delivery company serving France!
15.
Frankly as a trader I found Paypal all to ready to give back money to customers, so you may be lucky - My understanding is that under £100 your CC company would not be interested,  ( I have a feeling there is a regulation about it being more than one item too)
Thanks for that. I have contacted my home insurance to see if my "assurance juridique" will cover any claim against them..or whether it is worth it.
16.
Stan, did you pay by credit card? You might be able to claim against the card company.
Payment for delivery was made by Paypal, with whom I have raised a dispute. The remainder would be for the damaged goods, which I already owned when the company concerned packed and sent them.
17. I would like some advice as to where I stand with pursuing a small claim against a UK company as per the following scenario. I have legal protection for consumer problems via my home insurance. The problem is that I arranged goods, which would be normally unbreakable during proper transit, ie properly packagaed and labelled. I paid the company for this delivery. When the delivery arrived, the packaging was of inferior quality (ie single thin walled cardboard box which was held together by poor thin and narrow household sellotape). The contents were so badly packed, most of the contents were broken and unusable and the packing material, I could only describe as dangerous and probably illegal. Without going into specifics, the company involved are refusing to compensate me so I intend to take the matter further via UK Trading Standards but not sure about the UK Small Claims Court. The delivery and damage costs are below £100. Alternatively I am just wondering if I can progress a claim via my French legal protection given the fact that the parcel was despatched from the UK but accepted in France.
18. I noticed a post on another forum regarding one of these companies who accept deliveries of food shopping from the likes of Asda, Tesco etc, then deliver to France in their vans. There appears to be very little info on them, although they claim to have twice weekly deliveries to the whole of France. Does anyone know anything about them as they claim to be able to deliver mainly within 48 hours?
19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgoDkwwpFx0 This is quite funny. Have checked on leboncoin but cant see where you can buy these!! [;-)]
20.
Does this help...? http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2008/dec/16/multi-bird-roast-recipe Bernice
It most certainly does, thanks Bernice, just what I was looking for...and a stuffing recipe too. Brilliant. [:-))]
21. Thanks for all of these. I have already tried the Google search but cannot find any recipe for the "building" of a bird using pre-boned meat, which is what my post is all about.
22. I am looking to "build" a 2 bird roast for Christmas, preferable using boneless turkey and duck meat packs from the supermarket. Does anyone have any recipe ideas or how to "put it together", along with cooking times? Obviously you can tell I am a complete novice at this, but cannot find anything similar at our local Super U !
23.
Whatever.....
Thank you for the info Chiefluvvie, although I do not know what the first part of your reply was all about.[:P]
24.
emmm stan...you said 'With regard to my continuing problem on how to transfer funds to the UK'...... Chiefluvvie
Emmm chiefluvvie, the French beneficiary was to be an intermediary ! [kiss]
25.
Oh, Stan. This is for 40euros - right? I'm sure your relative wouldn't want you to go through all this angst for 40euros. If it were me I'd want to pay in the 40euros at your bank for you and you can pay me somehow - bring me some nice French wine next time you come over to UK, or order me some books from Amazon or something. I know how you feel about this being like borrowing money but just try to think out of the box perhaps.
Thanks for the offer Bubbles, much appreciated, but I am not Euro skint, just no access to Sterling at the moment..neither do I want to ask my relative (who is skint) to stump up £30 on my behalf. I pm`d you with Plan A, so will update you tomorrow if I need Plan B [:D]
