  1. I sometimes wonder why I am breaking my neck trying to make a pile of old stones into a house shaped pile of stones with a (slightly leaky) top on it. Are they going to try and charge me for the rainwater soaking up my placo & into the ground next?
  2. Thanks for the advice, am going to the house early june, so will check the viability of it before I buy anything, just hope it works out ok as I cant realy justify the cost of going to a mains supply.
  3. with my house there is only 1 thermostatic shower, I was hoping if I had say a 50l pompe surpresseur feeding on to the hot tank, maybe that would be adequate?
  4. http://www.bricommerce.com/boutique/fiche_produit.cfm? What about the pump at the bottom of this page? with some kind of basic filter etc? It looks suitable to me...
  5. I am not to fussed about using it for drinking. So I would need another seperate cold ballon to be fed via this pump?
  6. Damp ground is definately better, my place has granite/stone below it, the only way to get a good earth was to connect it to the steel grid when the slab went down
  7. Any advance on 20ls, or is more better, even in a small installation like mine? Another question, I will also be looking for the correct size/ brand of hot tank. Any recommendations out there?
  8. I dont know how close you are to me, but when I actually manage to get to france, my place is about 20 mins south of La Roche, I am hoping to be there in June, & can bring a Loop tester along.
  9. Have just wired my house & fortunately for me what plumbing I have is all plastic, so for your installation I would say, yes you should make sure you have continuity between all the copper pipework & the earth bar. That copper is most probably whats giving you that earth you are looking for.
  10. Thanks, the level in the well is never really much more than 1m below ground level & it only has to go a short horizontal distance, about 4-5m. The house is only small with a shower room & kitchen with the usual appliances. I was hoping to buy a pump with the tank attached, am guessing maybe a 50l tank, & then on to a suitably sized hot tank. Electrics I can do, but not so sure with the wet stuff
  11. Ah, thats good timing, so whats the situation with wells already being used before that date? Does that mean they will need to have meters fitted etc?
  12. Sounds like you are getting a bit bogged down. You really need a friendly electrician with a loop tester to make certain the earth is good, Over here in blighty up to 200ohms is deemed to be acceptable by some, but NICEIC like it to be below 100.
  13. I have a communal well which is really close to my house ( like less than a foot away). The house will only be used for holidays at the moment, so rather than get connected to another expensive utility, i want to make use of the well, which nobody else ever uses & is always very full even in summer. I want to use a self priming surface pump connected to a tank, I have seen them in the brico stores. Does any one out there have experience of these units? Any advice would be great.
