Hi! We're recently purchased a piece of land (in the Correze 19) and are looking to begin building our house by the end of the year. The property already had a permis de construire but we are now applying for an ammendment to the plans as there were a few changes we wanted to make. Anyhow, has anyone on the forum built their house from scratch and would be willing to share any tips/regrets/insights/'wish-someone-had-told-me-that-when-I-started'??n Any info would be very much appreciated!! krista

Hi, we are currently considering buying a plot of land for a new build, there is electricty and water on the road but I am concerned as to how much EDF and the water company would charge for installing these services to the property. The property already has planning permission and there is a house plan- the house would be some distance from the road, say 300m uphill. I already know that we would have to dig our own trenches. What could we expect the costs to be? Any ideas? The land is in the Correze (19)

Thanks for the replies, I better look around at the various banks and what they require, I was only asking as the Britline for Credit Agricole requests the proof of income.

Hi, Am looking to open up my own french bank account but am unsure what use regarding the need for proof of income as I don't draw any income any longer. I have savings which I would be transfering over to my french bank account once we're living in france. I would like to be able to have a separate account to my partner's. Any suggestions? Thanks!
