Good luck, quick recovery and lots of patience!!!!!
-
Definitely go along to your local emergence/clinic/hospital. We have had to do this three times in the last 7 years for an accident prone teenage son, each time was seen immediately, x rayed, patched/stiched/plastered up, prescription for whatever was needed and home in a very short space of time - great attention and at all times of day and night. Please don't hang around, go first thing and you will be seen to no problems. Good luck and quick recovery.

Sorry I can' t help re vets but am thinking of you having had our dear lab put to sleep 4 weeks ago. Be strong and brave, you know deep down it is the right thing to do. x

Why are people from Baluchistan freely called Baluchis (without any prejudice) and Pakistanis are offended at the word Paki? I just think it's a light hearted p... take to be called a pommie whatsit, many other 'nicknames' spring to mind. Poitical correctness gone beserk IMHO! ps. still got my golliwog badges, sad or what?

Forgot to add parents and children had a 'formal' meeting with the teachers accompanying them a couple of weeks before they went. I would imagine you would have the same and any questions were answered (privately or during the meeting) - an ideal time to bring up the vegetarian query.
-
Can't help with the vegetarian side of things but our chap went from France to Barcelona (same year as yours in college), stayed in the same sort of accomodation, had a wonderful time and seemed to eat nothing but churros!!!!!! Suffice to say he had a good time and the family he was with seemed used to children from all races/countries/backgrounds and thoroughly enjoyed himself. As Lehaut wrote, the colleges do use specialist companies and I am sure would not have any problem dealing with your request. Hope he has a wonderful time.

Just got the electricity and phone back having gone orrf at 10.00 am. Just saw the Maire on his way round the village and warned us to stay inside. Plenty of trees down, unfortunately one very large one in the middle of the village on top of a brand new Audi. Still blowing an absolute hooly with no sign of abating. We are 10 mins from Carcassonne, apparantly worse towards Quillan.

Many thanks for that recipe, will certainly give it a whirl. As you say, the ultimate comfort food to be eaten in front of a large fire and brill dvd on the tv!
-
A very happy and healthy new year to all and many thanks for the various replies to my queries.
-
Thank you so much for that - I've printed it out and keep reading the very true words, though still obviously incredibly upset it is some comfort.

God bless them all xxxx

Best wishes for your liitle one - speedy recovery for you both. We had a problem years ago that they couldn't pin down, fortunately it didn't repeat itself in a later age. x

So many, many thanks for your support and advice. Have now done the deed and feel like an absolute bit.. Yes, I know in my heart it was for the best to end her discomfort/suffering but, even so. Now have to move on, make much of the other dog and am going for a long walk in the rain. The vet was fabulous, Poppy knew absolutely nothing as to what was going on and her passing was really peaceful. Sorry, blubbing again, rip Poppy. x
-
Just re-read this thread as I am taking Poppy to the vets in half an hour to do the necessary. Just pray and hope they are as gentle and kind here in France as they were for our previous labs in the UK. Please can someone reassure me that this is the case as I'm on my own at the moment. Many thanks

Wishing you the very best of luck, stay positive, keen and integrate - it will rub off on Amey.

Sorry, can't seen Norman's point. We were out in our village selling brioche for the handicapped (medical) at the same time as some other villagers (french) were collecting for a completely different charity - obviously there is room for everyone here.
-
Maybe we have also just been lucky as our 6 1/2 years have proven very positive as far as the education system is concerned. We had two others educated in the UK prior to coming here and our 15 year old is now in Lycee. Obviously the odd hiccup has occured as would happen anywhere but by and large I feel that the French system has an edge to the English one (in our experience - can't speak for others) in the sense of making sure the child has a thorough grounding in the basics before moving on to the next stage of the subject concerned. Though the school in the UK was a good one I think that this point was sometimes missed, moving on in the curriculum before ensuring a complete grasp of the ground covered.

Two v good looking hunky chaps arrived yesterday evening[:$] I also gave them 10 euros and IMHO worth every centime.
-
Sorry, still off topic! 7's finals day tomorrow with big bash in evening.
-
Well persevered - to cheer you up take a trip down the road - Dubai 7's this weekend. Son playing for a UK team so hubby out there enjoying Emirates hospitality. -2 here this am!

Absolutely disgusting, what on earth has gone wrong in this world.

Alekum salam [:D]
-
Sorry, I forgot to add they were both renewals.

Not sure but last December I asked an ex RAF Officer in the next village to sign off on both my and sons passports. Back without a problem from Paris. If you are not sure it's perhaps (it you know someone locally) best to be prepared.
Factual or harsh?
