We have mutuelles with Groupama. We chose them because they insure our house/car etc. They have various levels of cover from basic hospitalisation - cost 60 euros each per YEAR - up to the full monty, covering glasses, drugs,hospitals, hearing aids, dentists, etc etc - cost about 800 euros each. When you consider that you get (on average) 70% of the tariff reimbursed you will need a lot of drugs/glasses/dental treatment/ hospital care etc to get to 800 euros. We (aged 56 and 59) chose just the hospitalisation cover. The doctor charges 20 euros for a visit and you get 14 euros back. The rates change with age according to bands, currently we are in the 55 - 64 group, and rates will rise as cross the boundary into the 65 - 74 group.
