BSc done just honours project to complete Chancer. Still awaiting to hear from anyone who is a qualified instructor in the UK and now works as an instructor in France, would like to hear your experiences of getting work or setting up as an instructor.

Thanks for the info. I would like to hear from anyone else who is or was a BHS instructor in the UK and is or tried to work as an instructor in France. More feedback on experiences would be useful. Thank you to anyone who contributes any info. p.s. not a groundhog day....busy doing a BSc in Equine Sports Science at the moment...and its exam time....so stress is to blame!!! Ho Hum!!

Did your friend have BHS Qualifications? I am sure that I will have to take some French exams, however I did think the BHS certificates counted for something when working in France. As for speaking french I was not only thinking of teaching french people but english too...there are quite a lot of english speaking riders in the Charente. Thanks for the info...I will research further.

Thank you for your reply. I have read of some Brit riding instructors teaching in France, but no actual details of how they obtained work. I will look into it further!

I am looking to move to my home near Ruffec permanantly in June next year. I am a qualified riding instructor with over 30yrs experience of teaching and horses and have a BSc Equine Sports Science. I know its a little early to ask, but does anyone know of an equestrian establishment that may need an instructor in the future, or where I might be able to find work teaching riding club or individuals in the Charente area? I speak some french (having lived there in 2005) and have competed upto Advanced Medium dressage and intermediate eventing. I am a qualified riding instructor, and will be moving to the Charente (16) this time next year....so beginning to plan my move now. Does anyone out there know if I could find some part-time work at riding schools giving lessons? Pony club? or would there be any opportunity to give private lessons. Perhaps you know of a riding school who may be looking for an instructor within the next 12 months? I have somewhere to live and a car to travel. Any advice appreciated.

Hi, see you only have one reply! I hope to be moving to small village near Champagne Mouton (16) next year. I love walking with my dog and when I lived there (about 3yrs ago now) I had no one to meet up with and walk my dog. Perhaps you wouldn't mind letting me have your contact details and when my move is all complete we could meet up and walk dogs, and exchange favourite walks. Kind regards, Poppy
