  1. We live in Calvados, and do not have any income, apart from our two gites. This year, we filled in our french tax return, and where told that as we have a gite rural, that we should put the income down as from a mirco enterprise, despite the fact we have not registered as such, do not have a TVa number, or anything else to say we are a micro enterprise. Once we filled in the form, our taxable income was reduced by 72%, but having recieved this very welcome reduction, we are concerned that we should have joined the local chamber of commerce, or be paying in to the system with a TVA number, or some other unknown organisation. One thought is that we may have opened a can of worms by allowing our income to be shown as such on the tax return as a micro enterprise, and we should have shown it a s the same as a rented house.   Any thoughts people, has any one else had the 72% reduction? Thanks

    kittens free !

Hi to everyone, I know this is a frequent request but here goes, we have 4 beautiful kittens to go to good homes, I would dearly love to keep them all but as we already have 5 cats this may be pushing things to far. We were waiting till thier mum was old enough to be netured but nature got there before us, hence the babies they are ofcourse very cute and adorable, 2 boys which are a ginger and a pale tabby and 2 girls which are black and a dark tabby. we live near Torigini- sur- Vire and would be will to transport them.  Tracey
  3. Thanks for the replies, I agree Pucette, we don't really want to use chemicals, for all the work involved we want to produce something better than supermarket food. Looks like its more digging by hand and lots of manure, at least the ground is soft due to all this rain Traceyh
  4. Hi all you gardners, we have been trying to cultivate a veg plot, it was an existing plot but was left for 2 seasons, before we first dug it over, we tried to rotivate it but still had to pull up lots of couch grass by hand Then we planted potatoes as we have heard they are the best veg to help improve the soil, however asthe couch grass grew faster than the spuds,it seemed useless. We are begining again this season, firstly by digging the soil by hand and ofcourse weeding the couch grass, I do know you have to get every little bit out but there just seems to be more all the time. So can anyone tell us if we can put anything on the soil to kill the couch grass once and for all and then still us the site for vegs Thanks in advance  Traceyh
  5. I have done a search, but nothing appeared , before we can re-register our english car we have been told we need to get a valid CT, which we have done and also we need to visit an office in Caen to have the engine number verified before we can apply for the new reg number from the prefecture (? spelling)  Does anyone know the address and if indeed this is correct ? Thanks in advance Traceyh
  6. We have purchased a three year old 10kw deville poele a bois for burning wood in our lounge. The chimney will go straight up from the fire about 6 m and go just above the apex of the roof. it will not have any bends in it. The fire has a 125mm oulet , and we intend to use 125mm inox to the top, and then put on a hat. However so english friends believe that the diameter of the pipe will be to small at 125mm, and we will not get a good draw and therefore get smoke in the lounge and not up the pipe. Any ideas?
  7. Hi , I am looking for someone to teach my son Stuart to play the guitar, we have looked at many places but they classes are either full or the music teacher dosen't teach guitar so we are running out of places to try. we have tried Torigini, Villers Bocage, Vire and our own village St Martin des Besaces. I know there is another section for this posting but would like something fairly local, as one teacher suggested Caen At the moment Stuart goes to the school sports on a Wednesday afternoons and his brothers all play footy on Saturday afternoons so perhaps early evening would be best if anyone has any ideas. Thanks in advance for any help Traceyh
  8. We have an English registered Renault 21 Neveda diesal turbo 7 seater H REG not the best condition in the world, but runs OK. Is this the sort of thing you would like to swop for.? We live in Calvados with family in Portsmouth. david
  9. Sorry for delay in relpying, but have only just had time to get back to LF forum, anyway, we live in a village close to Beny Bocage and our eldest, now 15 should have gone to that college, but our Immobilier at the time suggested Torigini as he knew there were other English kids at the college, and we will now have all 4 boys attending in Sept. We have also since found out that there are 3 other english kids at Beny Bocage so you will find help there too. We have nothing but praise for the schools that our kids have attended and although we were all nrevous to begin with they have all done very well and made lots of new friends, therefore so have we.
