These two have till the 18th of this month and then they are being taken to the Spa! A friend visited them today and tells me they are very affectionate! It would be very harsh on them to find themselves in a refuge after two years in a good home but the owner now has no choice he says....... so sad!

If it meant that you could take Tony, I know of a lady who will 'mind' him whilst a passport is in the process - her charges are negotiable and she is usually prepared to help with the journey but she is in the Tarn I think. I could check if this is useful.

Millie has been left behind a bit - she needs a home urgently now!
November 17, 2010
Milly’s story is typical of what is happening to so many beloved pets
in France today. Please read her story and if you think you could find a place in your heart for this little innocent do contact us.Millie is 4 years old and an affectionate little dog, desperate for
attention and cuddles. She is micro-chipped (250269800770778) and was last vaccinated in 07/11/06. Millie has not been sterilized and has been with her owners since she was a puppy – bought for an 11 year old daughter, who has long since lost interest in her and no longer lives at home. Millie lives with 2 Labradors and cats. She chases chickens although brought up with them. Since the owner’s wife left a year ago she and the Labradors are alone in the house most of the time and are very rarely walked. Millie gets on with other dogs but does pull a bit on the lead, but only because she is not used to it.This in not the life for any dog and now the desperate owner (with
his own financial problems as well as too many animals to feed) needs help. For further details about Millie please contact or telephone 06 14 39 97 18
Millie deserves better and we sincerely hope that some kind person will come -
Happy to say that this lass went to a new home today - fingers crossed it works for her. Nice retired couple who took in another rescue last week and are hoping the two dogs will get along and settle down and be happy together as they have both had a bit of a rough time in their young lives so far.

I need to bump this up as it's very urgent we help this family and their pets. Please can somone give them a lovely kind peaceful home and take a huge weight off the shoulders of this struggling gentleman? Please.......

Indeedm swimming would be great for his back legs though I doubt our local pool would allow him in there!! Something for us to consider for next year if he's still struggling though - a small hydropool that would be easy enough to build with a little thought - I am always giving my poor husband projects for the animals whilst he tries to ignor me and get on with the house renovations!!. We do have an ouside pond but right now I think not.... brrrrr Have no doubts it would be just the ticket for him but for the moment we keep taking the pills, massaging his legs and he loves to get about in his sling at every opportunity........ which is usually on the hour every hour! We even thought about converting a baby walker but the ground is so uneven that his nose would probably suffer quite a lot.......... do any of you remember the bruises the kids used to get when they charged around in them?? Sometimes I used to worry the family would think I was beating them! Then again a couple of times they damn near brought me down too......... so now we have swapped our kids for dogs! But we love it just as much.

I know this family and have no doubts that Belle will be much loved and have all the other rescues for company and playtimes with these lovely people. She deserves to have a secure and happy life at last poor little girl. More happy endings please! It's getting to that dreadful time of year when dogs are thrown out to face the hardship of winter alone and scared. The season of goodwill and all that.........hmmmm. I hope there are people out there who will open their hearts and homes to a poor lost waife who needs them so much - please??

This is a very traumatic story and these two little dogs need a new home fast or a foster home in the interim. They are in a very sad and stressed household and are not coping very well not. Scruffy was rescued a couple of years ago and produced six puppies - Alex her boy was kept by the family who adopted her and they found homes for all the others. Their owner is a caring but very distressed gentleman who is undergoing some terrible traumas at the moment and trying to keep his family together (three children under 15 - one of whom is severely handicapped). His wife is a violent alcoholic. He is having to sell his house and has already managed to home his three donkeys, four cats and herd of sheep The children are heartbroken to lose their dogs but understand the pressures and he is keeping a very old Briard and a very young Doberman - both of whom would be difficult to rehome. The two little terrier Xs will have to find new homes and they are becoming very stressed as the household situation deteriorates and they are sensing the chaos. Their owner is desperate not to put them into the Spa and will travel anywhere to take them to a loving home - they are in the Gers near Auch. If anyone feels they can help, you can email me for more details - here are some pictures taken yesterday......... my heart is hurting for them all.

What a beautiful pair - sad eyes as yet but they will soon glisten and sparkle when they have their own humans to care for them and love them! Our little Podenca looked sad and worried for a long time till she finally realised she was never going to be hurt again and was safe in her very own pad. Lovely dogs! Well done Rowan and Janet.

Most of the time he's not in pain - just now and again he yelps when he catches himself skidding along the floor or when we pick him up sometimes to move him around. He gets very excited and literally scrambles about all over the place! We weighed him today - 15kgs, so he's no light weight now and we will make sure he get's no heavier so as not to impede his ability to recover in any way. My husband is indeed a good man and Scramble thinks so too......!

Update on Scramble. The vet came to the house today to see Scramble (and a couple of other dogs who needed their annual jabs) and gave him a thorough examination and watched him move around. He is almost sure that he has been hit by a car and received a trauma to the head that has stopped the free flow of blood to the brain, hence his complete lack of co-ordination. He gave him an injection of Candilat and a month's worth of tablets. We now have to wait and see what happens BUT, to my sheer delight, the vet says it's not out of the question that he will regain some, if not all, his mobility if we are patient and continue to care for him as we are doing at the moment. He approved of the sling we have made for him that allows him to walk supported alongside us and the other dogs in the fields and says that he's getting the right amount of exercise for his condition at the moment. So there we are folks - for the moment I am cautiously optimistic. We will post some more pictures as soon as we have a moment - it's actually a bit full time looking after him at the moment, also because he's attached himself to my husband to the point that he won't let him out of his sight....... bit tricky! But he's eating, sleeping and doing all his other duties perfectly and we all love him lots! I hope he'll be skidding around by himself very soon.

This is Mayu and I think you agree, after reading the following information from her current owner, that this doggie needs a new home quite urgently! She's lovely and clearly not in the right environment at the moment as her owner is honest about. Can anyone help her? Her is what the owner says about her :-She's called "Mayu" which means eyebrow in japanese....(my wife, Kiyono, is japanese)...she came with the name whiskey and will respond to that too. We've had her about a year . She was found , and taken in, by a family but apparently the gent' of the house objected strongly to having a non-working dog.....having two gun dogs she was categorized as a yap dog....on the same par as a poodle or similar. ..this despite her noble sheep dog ancestry! She responds to "mayu come here", "sit"..."heel" ..."lie down"..."bed"...."hup" or "up" for getting in the car..."no"..etc . She's not good when she's first out for a pee....she's deaf in fact until she's had a sniff...pee etc then she's pretty good...if you're off on a long walk she rarely needs much attention she'll orbit around until she's tired and then tag along beside you. She's very friendly and quiet and a good companion.O.k and now for the bad points; she has little road sense and will even chase a car or bike if she's not on the lead. She's not completely dependable as regards house training...never a problem in the day but at night either she needs to be on the leash in her bed...which she's not going to foul...or kept outside. That's about it really other than why we would like a good (better) home for her. Our garden is not big and is at roof height....you need to go up a many stairs which she doesn't take freely to that...so either she's down stairs loafing around or off for a walk ...clearly we're not often going to go out for a walk all day... so she's inside too much and I think it better that she's either out or/and with other doggy company.Hope all this makes sense.

I have put this on AI for you as well - but for my little Scramble, I would have loved to have done this with you! Our little Podenca is just the sweetest little dog ever and it is a year to the day that we rescued her from Saville where she had been so brutally beaten. There are so many ill treated ones there, it's wonderful that you are getting a couple out at least and I know that Sheelagh will find them good homes. Wonderful breed.

Posted on AI last week - she's not spayed and chases cats and chickens BUT she's a real sweetie and loves children and other dogs - here is what her owner says about her and I will post a picture she sent me. Thanks.
We are looking for a home for our "labri". she's elegant and good
tempered. Looks like the "fido" dog..or a smaller version of the delux paint ad'. She's around 3 1/2 yrs old, is chipped de-loused etc. She would love to have another doggy companion or/and a good garden with attentive owners......we can't provide either and it's a shame for us all.If you could help or wish for more details please contact by mail or ring 0561979855.
Thank you.

Jouals, thanks for that - all ideas welcome! Heaven only knows what could have caused this, I just wish I knew and he could talk to me! He's about the same but the more I watch his total lack of co-ordination and balance, the more I feel that is a neurological episode. However, after doing quite a bit of research on the net, poisoning of one sort or another can certainly cause this kind of thing and can come right eventually............ so I'm not losing hope. He's been so very good. Eating and sleeping well but he yelps sometimes when he crawls about in doors (we carry him outside and are making a sling so he can use his legs without weight bearing to have a good sniff round the fields and perform his duties). My husband, whom Scramble has attached himself to in a big way, thinks it's because he catches his 'bits'......... At any rate we never leave him alone and are feeding him a special diet that will give him lots of vitamins to build up his immune system etc. He's a bit stronger I would say and still busting with determination so we'll see how he goes till next week with rest, care and observation so we can give the vet all the help he might need to diagnose if he can. It's heart breaking to watch him struggle about but he's so happy just being with us it can't be wrong to give him every chance we can.

Hi Anne - so glad to hear you got back safe. Is it the house near the beach still? How are things? Would love to catch up when you have some time. Best wishes.

Oh my goodness Christine - what amazing pictures of the cart and the lovely dog! Thank you for that - it all helps us get ideas as to how we might help our little chap.
