  1. Christine - firstly I'm thrilled about these two little dears finding such lovely homes - well done!  Secondly I'm afraid there could be a hitch with the little dog that Peter took fromSaintes Spa!  They called me this morning to tell me that he has started to snap at them.  I was at pains to tell them to hang in there as it's early days and sounds like he's had a rough ride.  I later spoke to Peter's wife who told me she thinks the dog's not well and they are taking him to the vet this afternoon.  I makes my insides squirm to think they might take him back to the Spa because in all other ways he's first rate - good with the cats and hens, clean in the house, good in the car, follows them around............ but he's not eating much and is very thin and it sounds to me as though he's a bit tender to the touch which is why he's on his guard and nipping.  I will keep you in the loop and hope to goodness it all comes right for them.  They are a bit wary of him now and need to try to begin the bonding process again.......
  2. That's good news.  These people live in Moissac (82) but not a million miles away so doubt that would be a problem.  Would be good if you could find one and make a space!
  3. Jouals  - today I had someone mail me saying they wanted to adopt either a Pug or French Bulldog.  Their 17 year old one died recently and they now feel  they would like another one and would like to adopt.  Don't suppose there are any in the Spa??
  4. Hi Jouals - sorry to report that my possible foster carer is just off on a months holiday and is sorry she can't help!  Bother!  I will keep thinking of options for you.  Have you tried Sue at Poorpaws - she is in the area and might just have space for one more even though I know she's busting she's a real star - it will have to be a female tho, positively no males right now!
  5. Have passed the word on to a couple of people who have offered to foster in the past but I don't know if they are around right now - but have to try.  Every Spa I have dealings with is under the cosh at the moment - it's just awful.  Last I heard from Rowan they are putting them three to a box in Carcassonne and in this heat they are fighting!  They put loads down every week sadly.  It's a nightmare and such a waste of some lovely lovely dogs.  Shame shame on us humans!
  6. Update on this lovely girl.  Val I contacted the Malamute rescue and they sent us back some forms to fill in and sounded very kind.  But, everything is on hold at the moment as, by chance, a new English family saw my plea for Skye and her owner Vanessa is taking her down to see them next week!  They have researched the breed and have one other male dog (retriever cross) large house and garden and so I need positive thoughts for our lovely Skye and hope like hell she's going to find her forever home at last.  I take my hat off to Vanessa who has been living guarding the dogs and making parts of her house and garden like Colditz to avoid the two dogs getting together whenever possible - desperate to find a way to find Skye the place she needs.  So let's hope next week's visit is a success for them all.
  7. Update on Belle - she has been adopted bless her.  Are you still looking?
  8. Thanks for letting me know Christine - fingers crossed for little Jazz as he does look a real little star.
  9. OK Christine - these people are in your area (I put them in touch with you once before?  Peter?) and they would be very interested if he's good with cats.  However if you have already got someone for him that's good and I will keep trying!  Anything similar to this little chap is what they are after with the cat proviso.
  10. Good with cats anyone?  Would like to forward him on to a couple who are looking but they have cats to consider.
  11. Belle at Poorpaws is still available - have just got email from her foster carer saying following about her .... Cordialement, Cathy The dog above at Carcassonne is probably the nearest to you, then Millau, then Poorpaws.  The advantage of Poorpaws is that Belle is with a foster family and therefore a known quantity - also Sue at Poorpaws take dogs from Carcassonne as regularly as she can to help ease the load there.  She tells me there are also some colli x puppies up for adoption that she knows of.  I have taken three dogs from Carcassonne recently and they have all been lovely dogs, albeit they need a little while to settle in obviously.  Hope one of these is lucky enough to take your fancy!  Please let us know.  Thank you.
  12. There is also Belle - four year old border collie who is up for adoption on Poorpaws - first on the page.  She is no good with cats but great with children.  http://www.poorpaws.com/adoption.htm
  13. Can anyone tell me if there is a specific rescue site for this breed here?  English lady has one she must re-home because he keeps escaping (bored I sense for lack of time on behalf of the owner) and making a nuisance of himself with the neighbours - goes for a swim in their pool........  sounds a bit of a character but she is worried that he will get run over on one of his jaunts or cause an accident and she can't keep him in except on a rope.  Any advice welcome or even better if someone could give him the time and training he needs??
  14. Have you looked at Phoenix Assoication or Poorpaws. they are not in your area but they know about the dogs they offer for re-homing and often have contacts in other areas.  The lady who volunteers at the Spa at Carcassonne is away in the UK right now but can't help feeling there is bound to be something there that fits the bill as there are so many collie types there.
  15. Thanks Deborah - I hope we can work something out for this lovely dog soon.
  16. Val - I sent the Malamute rescue link an email yesterday as I think they might be the best bet for Skye, thank you.  The poor owner is so distraught at the situation and it's breaking her heart to part with Skye but having heard the whole story on the 'phone yesterday, I really feel for them as they love both the dogs very much and it's such a hard decision.  Vanessa has had some pretty tough emails telling her she should get rid of the Staffie as she is the trouble maker......... but as she says, without Skye she is lovely also, is older and gets on fine with the other three dogs - she just hates Skye - horrid decision to have to make.  She has had some very dodgy offers of homes which she went to vet and found scary conditions with some awful dogs already there........... just shows you how careful you have to be when re-homing!  Please can anyone help Skye on here?? http://ineedahome.yolasite.com/skye.php
  17. I have also been going that route and I will forward the links to Vanessa - thank you!
  18. This has now become very urgent for poor Skye.  Another fight this week-end, another visit to the vet and now her owner is desperate to find somewhere for Skye very quickly as her partner is going back to work and Vanessa is tiny and finds it hard to cope when the dogs have a set to.  It isn't Skye that's at fault but Vanessa really doesn't feel the Staffie will fare as well as Skye in a new home - they are her dogs and she has made the decision that Skye, who is younger, is the better bet to find new owners.  She was in tears all the time she was talking to me and is talking of taking her to the vet rather than let her go to the wrong home.  Some rather odd people have offered homes that when checked out were NOT suitable...... chains and outside kennels with other scary dogs!  She has even offered to take Skye back to the UK as she has an up to date passport if the right people wanted her there, so the poor lady can't do more and is so very gutted at the whole affair.  She is too good a dog to end up in the Spa or worse - good with all male dogs( and Vanessa's other three dogs GSH and Spaniels) and children - not tested with cats - but good in the house, car etc.  Please, if you know of anyone who might give this dog the chance of a good life - speak up now as time is running out and this poor lady is at the end of her rope as her house is full of tension, baby gates to keep the dogs apart etc.  Thank you.
  19. What a little cutie - any chance you might know if he's good with cats?
  20. It's insane at the moment - have just posted another SOS for the Lot next to yours Jouals.  Dogs are being doubled up in kennels and fighting because of the heat........ it's terrible!
  21. From an English  volunteer at Figeac to me - some desperate cases everywhere at the moment!!  But again for people in the Lot or Lot and Garonne PLEASE can you help these dogs at Figeac..... quote:- Desperately looking for a host family for a 5 year old yellow female lab - she was a breeding bitch for a puppy farm who got dumped when she got bitten by a mosquito and got the yucky disease. Nothing bad for her, just means that she is on meds for life but no longer good enough for puppy farming apparently. The host family would need to live in the Lot and all vets fees and food would be paid for by the refuge. She is desperate to get out and is finding life behind bars incredibly difficult as she is basically not getting the care she needs. Any ideas?
  22. Is there nobody out there in the Lot who reads this forum who can help this little doggie?  Had one lovely lady reply for one of the other poor mites however!  Thank you Jelly... can you kick some others into action near you perhaps!
