We have just registered our A class in France, but we were lucky, although UK registered it originated in Belguim, so was lhd and as it was one owner they had kept the CofC, we were well impressed:-Got the car through the controle technique, next day off to Limoges, spent 20 mins in the Hotel des Impots for the quitis, walked down the road to the Prefecture, served within 5 minutes, paperwork took 10 minutes, paid at the Caisse - this was last Friday, the Carte Grise arrived at our French address this morning where a neighbour signed for it. Brilliant service
Is it signposted all the way through Paris though to Bordeaux?Coming back it is signposted to Lille all the way through,so it is quite easy.Have you done this?
Should add not through Paris - round Paris on the motorways follow Bordeaux

Anyone know a really sound way to set the sat nav from Calais through Paris to Orleon? I have done this so many times without problems, but have never gone the same way twice. I wanted a full proof setting.
Coming back is easy as I just follow signs for Lille and it is straightforward enough. You just have to have eyes up your backside to watch for the motorbikes.
Thankyou
If you follow Lille on the way back, you should follow Bordeaux on the way there, this takes you onto the A10 Oleans/Paris -
Really funny, bettyboop...How great that you are able to turn a negative into a positive with your hearing problem!
It does have its advantages sometimes, no screaming kids, listening to others on mobiles,or hubby when hes moaning lol just turn myself off - bet others would like to do that sometimes.

Ive used Ryanair a few times, although not recently. Being flexible, I have managed to travel for 9.99 each way including taxes.Ive never had a problem with the staff.Costs me more to travel to London on a packed train, with no seat.As for the jingles and adverts, Im deaf with a cochlear implant, so just tell the cabin crew in case of emergency, switch myself off and read in silence - heaven

Thats great news, thank you so much for your reply

We arent resident in France, but have just bought a car to leave in France to use when we visit. The car is a Mercedes originally bought in Belgium, we have the German Certificate of Conformity that was issued when the car was new, the car was then registered in the UK,its ideal a lefthand drive and the headlamps can be switched to the right way.Is the German C of C valid in France as its in German? Can we register it in France if we are not resident, we have had a house in France for 10 years? Thanks in advance

Having been hit once before with these charges, I now make sure that when Im in France I visit ATM then pay cash into my local CA branch, only have to pay the £2.00 charged for the withdrawal. Luckily having had the house so long now, I know when the big bills are due and make sure everytime I visit I add to the CA account this way

We are in the same situation as Hoddy our house was empty for 30 years, we spend as much time there as possible, we dont rent it out either...........I usually laugh out loud at Normans posts and just ignore them, but this one was downright rude and unnecessary.. shame on you Norman

They had a square about in the UK town I was born in over 40 years ago, I built a tree house on the only tree left standing on the sea of mud in the middle, my big sister worked in the civil service tower block that overlooked it, one day her supervisor said "will you just look at those filthy urchins down there!" she looked down to see her baby brother smiling and waving at her.
Crawley, West Sussex by any chance8 years later and unbeknown to me at the time the whole office used to gather at the window at 4.40 precisely to watch the mad boy racer in his V6 Anglia with Carlos Fandango super wide wheels do his customary 5 laps against the clock on his way home from the factory.
I found this out by chance many years later, (my sister having left to start a family) they were all hoping one day I would crash and get my come uppance.
