NormanH
I don't see any distiction being made here between 'nice' EXPATS (spit) and nasty immigrants..
I think the RN are going to come up against European law and human rights laws with many of their proposals. If they go ahead with their intention of banning the wearing of headscarves and abayas in all public places, they will have serious social unrest on their hands. Even Hitler backed down on some of his ideas - euthanising mentally handicapped people, for example.

cajal
Euthanasia tends to end in death for someone. I doubt many will die if the banning of the use of certain clothing Items goes ahead.
NickP
This post has a very misleading and clickbait headline. It stinks of rabble-rousing.
DaveLister
I doubt that the average British expat could ever be persuaded to rouse themselves into a rabble. Maybe a stern tut ?
betise
I am always interested to observe how, in voting stations, people take an array of party papers into the booth with them, to disguise their voting intention, and then throw the unused ones in the bin inside the booth. If the contents of those bins could talk!

Dave, what 1950s world do you live in? A "stern tut"? Clearly you have not heard the commonest English words used these days?

menthe
Didn't realise you hailed from Tilling? Well, that does explain a lot about you, Dave😜 So how much of that imaginary world have you brought with you to France?

An employer, a landlord and a social landlord would therefore be forced to choose the file of a French person, under penalty of sanctions. A threat coupled with other measures, including the tightening of the conditions of access to French nationality and "the expulsion of foreigners who have been unemployed for a year" , to empty France of its immigrants. Regarding social housing, Marine Le Pen even implied that foreign families should be expelled, expressing the wish, in 2022, to "put back on the market the 620,000 social housing units occupied by foreigners. "national priority in certain areas, in particular for access to employment and housing" Presumably you are not aware that in the UK, employers and landlords are compelled by law to investigate the immigration status of prospective employees and tenants? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/landlords-guide-to-right-to-rent-checks/landlords-guide-to-right-to-rent-checks-21-june-2024-accessible https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5a7b94a8e5274a7318b8f97c/summary-guidance.pdf
