According to that Grauniad article - It's all the fault of the "far right"- not the socialist maire and administration. But when did any socialist administration ever own up to it's own faults? alittlebitfrench
Paris has become horrible there is no doubt about that. It must be one of the worst, overated captials on the planet. It is flithy and crime-ridden. That said, if you go into some of the suburbs (10-15 mins) from Paris it is actually quite nice. Inside Paris is best avoided. To be fair, it is like that with most cities in France these days. Lyon, Bordeaux, Dijon, Strasbourg, Besancon etc etc. All these places I loved to go to have turned into crime ridden shît holes. I just would not waste my time or money visiting them anymore. Marseille !!!!! Grenoble !!!! .....god awful dirty dangerous places. Thankfully Tours is still OK. Clean, tidy, prosperous, charming.....but it will go the same way sooner or later. I was in Birmingham late last year. I have no idea why Birmingham has such a poor reputation. Compared to French cities, it was supurb. I was really impressed. I don't know why people criticise UK towns and cities. France is far worse. Go back ten years and everyone was talking about how rural towns and villages were dying in France. Now it is rural towns, villages and cities are dying. It is all about integration and the UK is a role model for that. Edited February 6, 2022 by alittlebitfrench
cajal
Realising that administrations are a necessary evil, to then totally foist the blame as to the unacceptable enviroment of Paris, or any town or city, on its administration is a misguided injustice. Whilst it is 100% the responsibility of an administration to clear up all the cr*p and defacing of any city, the responsibility for this mess lies solely with the knuckleheads who create this situation. As to why they do it in the first place remains another issue.

I would, however, attribute the behaviour to bad parenting, poor education, lack of intelligence and not forgetting pure thuggery and vandalism.
