krusty
"One of the UK's most iconic motoring brands is about to make a welcome return home. MG, now owned by the Chinese firm SAIC Motor Corporation, is set once again to go into production at the old Rover plant in Longbridge towards the end of the year. It's great news for car workers in the area who lost their jobs when Rover went into administration back in 2005. Whilst the new owners have made MG cars for sale in China, the move marks their first foray into the European car market - and the latest chapter in a story that started as long ago as 1924 when MG very first went into production. Iceni
Shame that it takes more than an octagonal badge to make an MG. And is it time for Red Robbo to make a comeback ?John

AnOther
Production of 'proper' MG's ended in 1980, although there are those who will argue it was 1974 when the hated rubber bumpers first appeared on the B. Whichever, with the possible exception of the RV8, anything subsequent was not worthy of the badge and most certainly not the hairdressers and gays favourite, the MGF.I have little doubt that the Chinese offerings will follow the tradition. Dog
... I mean who would drive a car called Morris's Garage? probably the same people in UK that drive Renaults not realising they are driving a Reginald.
AnOther
You might not think many would want a car called a Bavarian Motor Works or a Peoples Car but plenty do.
Dog
I do hope MG will poach the person that names Mazdas - he/she has such imagination coming up with a great family of vehicles based on the fantabulist Bongo name as you can also get a Bongo Brawny or a Bongo Friendee. AnOther
Hmm, have to admit from a 3/4 view it doesn't look too bad, there are even a couple of MG styling cues lurking in there, but side on it's distinctly underwhelming and take away the MG badge and it could be by any anodyne euro manufacturer, but with it's Rover 75 underpinniungs what was one to expect [blink]
