Floods and Blocked culverts

One thing you have to take your hat off to the French for ...in the Vendee I notice they seem to make sure the water courses and culverts are kept open and the heavy rain gets away ..

I believe some local flooding today in the UK has been caused by blocked culverts ... How much is that down to locals who perhaps  just shrug their shoulders and say "Not my job " and fail to report the situation  and demand that the council clear them...Perhaps they will get more involved now ?   Jobs for those on community service orders ASAP now I think .

Funny you should mention about France, they have been out clearing them round our way for the last month especially on the steep mountain roads.

From memory, do not most Communes employ a person or persons (Dependent on commune size) who maintain the local fosse structures?

I cannot remember their title.

These chaps do other local maintenance work also.

The area around where the link is to has had terrible floods in the past. I'm surprised if culverts weren't cleared out after the problems they've had locally.

Afraid they were not Gardengirl ...Fire brigade removed the twigs and rubbish and down went the water... Cant understand why the locals did not report it was blocked .
