fittersmate
Have only just realised that we could claim for charitable donations and wondered how far back we could claim.
idun
Yes, you can, but if memory serves it depends who to. There used to be a list of recognised of recognised charities.
fittersmate
Thank you idun. It was a donation to a cancer charity.
idun
https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/particulier/questions/jai-fait-des-dons-une-association-que-puis-je-deduireA live link. There is quite a big reduction. The first time we did this, it felt like we hadn't really given much... which had not been our intention. So after that, we gave extra as we knew we were going to claim money back, OK so it was a year later, but we were more in keeping with our original intention. fittersmate
Thank you so much for the link which was very helpful. Apparently you can only claim back 3 years.
chessfou2
They also have to be registered in the EU. So, UK charities OK for 2019-20, but I don't know what happens next year (1/12??) and presumably not at all 2021-2022. It was interesting that this year there was a separate line for our Notre Dame don as against the others.
Gardian
Just in case there are some who aren’t aware of the benefit .......As a general rule, you get two thirds of any charitable donation back - straight off the bottom line. Thus, just €10 / mth will cost you just €40 for the year. There is a ‘top stop’ of around €500 / p.a. , but cheap for you and good for your chosen charity.

Be wary that your charity gives 75% on income tax , as others only give 75% against the IFS.The dons to other "organismes d'interet general" and reimbursed at 66% are only limited to 20% of the donor's "revenu net imposable". Gardian
Thanks for the correction Parsnips. Spot on, as always.Whichever type of charitable donation you go for, it’s really good value for both you and the recipient.Where else could you legitimately donate ten or twenty €’s / month and it only costs you a fraction of that? Assuming of course that you’ve got any tax to pay !
