woolybanana
Hmm, remarkable event. Pity about the left hand drive Roller and Bentley! So, the British can organize after all. Two weeks, flawless. It should have given the British quite a lift in these depressed times.

NickP
Just a shame that after all the extremely hard work by young athletes, games organisers and wonderful volunteers, the closing ceremony organisers allowed the UK to be represented by convicted drug users and cottagers, a"B list" second rate would be TV celebrity who got chucked off of TV for abusive behaviour and a bloke who got cautioned for doing child porn "research".[+o(]
nomoss
Anyway, everybody liked it, didn't they.

Gardian
Even grumpy old me thought that it was excellent.I just felt that at 3hrs 5mins, it was half an hour too long. I suspect that the bringing-in of the athletes took a bit longer than planned (they weren't going to rush were they, they'd been rushing for the last 2 weeks?) and there were one or two acts that weren't special. But that's personal taste. The Union Flag setting was inspirational. Best act: George Michael.
idun
Everyone. Bar the French http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19249953
WOW I haven't looked at the french papers for a few days.Perhaps I would normally have thought it was just a bit of hard cheese, but not tonight. As tonight on the Journal de 20h from France 2 they were showing the celebrations in Paris for the returning athletes and talk about OTT, it was adulation on a scale that I found impossible to comprehend. I could only wonder what would have happened if Les Bleus had come in the top five.
nectarine
I enjoyed the ceremonies but would have the editors and producers should have their knuckles rapped severely! Lots of things happening in the arena, actors, acrobats, etc., and every so often the cameras would cut away to an aerial view of the stadium, so you couldn't see what was happening. Then cut back to the stadium where the announcer said "and thanks to all the youngsters who wore blue and depicted the flowing River Thames". What? Where? Didn't see that, since some fancy editor had decided the aerial shot was far more interesting. But, grump aside, it would flawlessly executed. George Michael excellent. One Direction, er, who? Annie Lennox on some Terry-Pratchett inspired gothic boat .... spectacular. And the John Lennon/imagine sequence was beautiful.
Rabbie
I think the point of that aerial shot was to see the the River Thames effect. After all a close up would have just shown a couple of youngsters in blue and we wouldn't have known what it was about.Still let's give credit for a well organised games that ran smoothly from beginning to end despite the fears that many of us had beforehand.
