The way things were in winter

That's beautiful! I haven't been to beamish open air museum for years, but we used to enjoy visits there. We could show our children how some things were when I was little, and how their grandparents used to live - and the open cast mine was so similar to where my father used to work from the age of 13.

I used to go to guide camp on a farm at Beamish as a young teenager, and was very surprised that the peaceful place I knew became a much-visited place.

The system for sending money whizzing around the shop at Beamish museum has been in use at a local store all this time; sadly, Jacksons is closing - I didn't shop there much, although it used to be a mecca for school uniforms, but it will be greatly missed in town.
