anotherbanana
Thank you, Norman. Now a question for you to keep that more than clever mind busy! I inherited a tree from my daughter which has turned out to be an apple tree which, contrary to my other trees, is bearing fruit, a single apple. My neighbour, an elderly and very helpful paysanne tells me that the single first fruit of an apple tree should not be eaten. Link to the Adam and Eve myth or is there a valid reason? NormanH
If you stay in the religious domain, the risen Christ is seen as 'the first fruits of them that sleep'https://youtu.be/4Q0qho_hKEgOn the other handhttps://www.francetvinfo.fr/replay-radio/les-pourquoi/pourquoi-la-pomme-est-elle-le-fruit-defendu_1777851.html
chessfou2
Speaking of first fruits and new expressions, our local paper had an article about the search for ancient 'lost' cépages.New to me, and probably to the journalist, who used it four times in a short item, was "Une équipe d’ampélographes ". Lori
à la tâte.The article below explains it.
Not for me. I don't even like picking up a rock for fear of what might be living under it. Same goes for bringing in firewood from a big stack. Seen too many snakes and spiders. Lehaut
Not French, but there is fishing technique in the USA called noodling, similar to the French method, but with slightly bigger (as you would expect) results.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft3JKjGRtxwAnd no, I would not like to try it either. mint
Yes, even round tight bends, even on narrow twisty roads, even in bad visibility conditions. I often wonder that the death figures are not way higher.
