Wal-Mart has announced that, on

January 1, 2007, it would begin

offering customers a new

discount item - Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.

The world's

largest retail chain is teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery

of

California to produce the

spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-$5 range.

Wine connoisseurs

may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand

into their

shopping carts, but "there is a market for inexpensive wine",

said Kathy

Micken, professor of marketing at University of

Arkansas, Bentonville.

She said: "But

the right name is important".

Customer surveys were conducted to

determine the most attractive name

for the Wal-Mart wine brand The top

surveyed names in order of

popularity were:

The beauty of

Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white

meat (Possum) or

red meat (Squirrel).

Could they also be served with a Mess of Smelts and Smothered Onions.  We really enjoyed these when we were in Pittsburgh.   [:D]

I know, everyone says "but why did you go to Pittsburgh of all places?!", because that's where our friends live.

A friend just sent me a birthday present: it's a tin of real Oregon Road Kill Possum!!!!  I am NOT going to open it to find out if there is real possum in there. However, it's on my bookshelf now. I'll have to see if I can get a decent photo of it to post.

It says it contains 100% possum and should be served on crackers with lots of beer and chili.

Personally I do want a case of "Goats Do Roam" it actually is on sale in the UK... I havent been able to find any.
