Dave
Hi Suze, the horse is as taken, likewise the Holme Oak? I admit to addiing a couple of sparkles to the Icy leaf though.....[;-)]best regardsDave

WJT
This was taken in the Appalachian mountains on the way to the Smokies in the US. It is not very good quality because it was taken from a moving car but the scenery was beautiful. These were taken a little later in a freak snow storm. We were in an ordinary (not four wheel drive) hire car and it became very scary to say the least. The first photo you can see the oncoming car, later in the third photo there was no one in sight for hours as it got worse. With hairpin mountain bends going about 10 to 20 mph, it was a trip I will never forget, didn't think we would make it. Well worth it though, I have no photos of interest of the Smokies but was very beautiful. Jonzjob
Back in the Aude. This is the winter scene here in the vine fields. One person, usually a man but being PC (for a change!) stood in the middle of a vine fields with thousands of vines around him and his equipment is -------- a pair of secatures, pruning the vines! Wow, what a job to look around and say to your self "Onlt another so many thousand to go [+o(]!!!He is a that tiny dot in the middle. Mind you it doesn't go on for ever, he should be finished by late March or so if the weather holds?
Valleyboy
Another hoar frost shot - my garden fence.
WJT
Pip, it wasn't by choice we drove in it, we were unaware it was coming and stupidly got caught up in it. It was scary when you see no one for hours.Lovely photos Valleyboy and Jonzjob. Jonzjob, that is amazing that the man in the photo is on his own and using secatures by hand, cannot imagine what he is feeling at the moment the photo was taken. I know by doing very small amounts of pruning by hand how difficult it can be. I hope it is all worth it to him and he produces some lovely wine. Looking at the scenery, I would assume it is not in the Fitou region. You mention it is in the Aude, what wine region is this?

You mention it is in the Aude, what wine region is this?
It's a bit further North WJ, just outside Conque sur Orbiel, just North of Carcassonne. Right at the Western end of the Minervois. Some of the people use battery powered tools, but not cheap at about 1000€. A lot of the older ones use long handled 2 handed manual ones. That field is not anywhere near as big as some of them!!! When the Tramontain wind blows from the NW it is as cold as an airfield....Even if the vines are cut by machine they still have to be finished by hand and then they have to be tied to the wire runners, by hand... The Minervois wine is lovely. No more is it a case of 'never mind the quality, feel the width'. The quality is GOOD! So much wine, so little time...[:D]
WJT
Thanks Jonzjob, I have had some lovely Minervois wine, lovely area too. However, I do feel for the old fellow, wouldn't like to have to do that by hand.[:)]
