HoneySuckleDreams
The Brownlee boys go today as well. So maybe another couple of good results for yorkshire. The triathalon is really the one sport I wish I was good at as it is, IMO, one of the most difficult sports
Théière
Apparently Yorkshire would be 11th on the medals table at the moment so no doubt they will claim independence later this year [:D]

woolybanana
Those brilliant Browlee brothers, and they are British. So good for a nation that has been educated to accepting failure and mediocrity and which is going through economic hell to have something to feel positive and proud about. woolybanana
The British nation. I may have spent 17 years here but I could never call myself French. Guess that makes me the perpetual expat, which I am, and probably unable to return to UK.

Hated the South African swimmer who boasted that he cheated, won and got away with it. Good luck to the rest of the GB team in the forthcoming events. Gardian
I watched bits of the NZ vs Holland womens hockey match this afternoon.A bit sad I know, but the Dutch are pretty .............. well, you know.Anyway, one of their players accidentally wacked on of the Kiwi girls around the head, as in really hard. She went down like a sack of potatoes. The match ended up as a penalty shootout. If that hadn't been decisive, I was wondering whether they'd just start wacking each other with their hockey sticks to decide the winner!!

Russethouse
LOL!Hockey can be a pretty lethal game inany case, one of the Reading players who is in the national team has already had her jaw broken, but came back to play after treatment....Tough birds here abouts ;-)

Gardian
[:D]All said and done, they've made a much better job of televising an almost impossible sport to show on TV.At previous Olympics, all you ever got was a lot of sails from a distance and the happy winner coming back in to the jetty. Frecossais
Watching BBC TV this morning, I had to feel sorry for the pundits trying to comment on the womens 10,000 m swimmimg event of yesterday. The camera kept slowing down and showing a leg or other part of an unnamed swimmer. Very aesthetic, but you had no ideawhat was actually happening in the race.Team GB came fourth I think. Gardengirl
Amongst my favourite Olympic moments - Kenyan David Rudisha's win in the 800 metres in a world record time as well as the gold medal. He did far more than he needed to win. Really poetry in motion!
