Pet Insurance and UK Microchips

I am not sure about the requirements for insurance but you can get your existing microchips registered in France which will be a help if your cats are lost.  Unless things have changed very recently, a UK microchip number will not be on the French database.

To get your chip numbers on the French database you will have to get the existing microchip numbers registered in France.  This has to be done through your vet who will obtain the necessary documents, complete them for you and submit them.     The actual transfer of the registration is not expensive, ours cost just over 11 euros  for our dog and will also be needed if you need to obtain a French pets passport.  Ours only took a couple of weeks but you will need proof of ownership of the animals and the original document for the UK microchip registration, proof of address etc.

Perhaps the insurance will accept the UK microchip as it is, they are probably just looking for positive identification, but the change is not a lot of trouble and should give the peace of mind that if they are lost, you have a good chance of getting them back.
