Gardener
On the IKEA 3D kitchen planner, putting a dishwasher next to an electric cooker (even though the cooker is housed in an IKEA carcass) is a big no no, but it is the best plan for our kitchen. The wiring for the cooker, is behind the cooker and the plumbing for the dishwasher is behind the DW and more towards the sink than the cooker. Is IKEA being over cautious on the health and safety, or are there other reasons eg invalidating house insurance for exemple?

Gardener
That blows any worries I had about health and safety out of the water, that may fit the bill, the price doesn't though.
Gardengirl
Our's are next to one another here in France, and were installed by a local kitchen fitter who does kitchens as his main work - so we assume are legal. In UK our dishwasher used to be next to the hob, and conformed with electrical standards also, apparently. That link looks a useful duo for a small kitchen, but is expensive; however I find white goods generally are very expensive in France. cooperlola
My dishwasher instructions say not to do this. Over-cautious? No idea. If somebody's fitting it for you and they advise against it though, it might affect any guarantees you have on the kit.
marc62
Hello GardenerHaving spent the past 31 years within the kitchen industry, at last I am qualified to respond as opposed to making comments of what we may think is best!As long as it is all install correctly you will have no problems at all, it will not effect any insurance claims or effect any warrenty of the products. It is quite common these days with the size of kitchens etc. Best practice will always tend to place a dishwasher close to a sink tho.
