1. Yes, something like that in the Vaucluse would be approaching a million euros, depending upon exactly where in the Vaucluse it was sitting.

3. Those photos could have been taken here in Sceaux also.  Looks just the same. At least there are fewer people in the parc now.  Our walks are more pleasant.
4. I was asked for my birth certificate last year when I renewed my 10 year card (Paris prefecture).  He said it was because way back when the last one was made (in the Vaucluse), they did not have the same computerized system.  Therefore the documentation to prove my maiden name was no  longer on file. I didn't have a copy of it with me, though I said I could come back with it.  He just went ahead and sent the file forward and warned me that I MIGHT be asked to provide it at the next 10 year renewal date.
5. Speaking of taxe fonciere, look at this one !!  I know it is big, but it is mitoyenne for heavens sake.  This is comparable to taxes in Gordes (known for some of the highest taxes in the country). http://www.kervran-immobilier.com/13754-carcassonne-maison-4-chambres-piscine.html
6. Thank you Norman.  We had the same issue when we lived in Bedoin.  Got behind many tractors, many times.  I understand that.
7.
No Parisiens, at least not here. Masks still de rigeur.
Consider yourself lucky !!
8. Just got back from a walk.  All restos/shops open, no masks on anyone, no tables distanced.  All exactly as life was prior to the Pandemic.  I didn't get close enough to see if tables were seated indoors, but it would not surprise me at all.  No rules (masks / distance) round here, including delivery guys and market vendors (today is market day here). No one here wears a mask anymore.  Not that that many did with the previous rules, but now it is a rare thing to see someone wearing a mask. We cannot wait to leave.
9. Good to know Norman.  Honestly, if the place I just linked was not falling apart, or literally in the boon docks, we'd have to seriously consider it.  We've seen others similar to it also.
10.
Remote area, Aude is a poorer dept .. as I said before.  Lori, some of the places you mention are seriously remote and dreary in winter ... no bus service .. and few commerces ... just saying .. the house you are living in is not everything ..
Yes, this is where your knowledge of the area is so important.  We see many houses that look like they offer everything we are looking for, but are just too far away from anything.  At the same time, we see things that say they are 30 minutes from Narbonne or 30 minutes from Carcassonne, 10 minutes from Lezignan, 15 minutes from  Limoux, etc. and that doesn't sound all that remote - but then, maybe sometimes it is. Like this one: https://www.bienici.com/annonce/vente/belveze-du-razes/maison/8pieces/ag160456-298158339?q=%2Frecherche%2Fachat%2Faude-11%2Cherault-34%2Fmaisonvilla%2F3-pieces-et-plus%3Fprix-max%3D350000%26surface-min%3D100%26chambres-min%3D3%26surface-terrain-min%3D500%26neuf%3Dnon%26parking%3Doui%26jardin%3Doui%26photo%3Doui%26viagers-exclus%3Doui%26pas-en-residence%3Doui%26tri%3Dpublication-desc
11. Thank you Judith.  I'll let you know when we are heading over there.  Nice of you to offer your advice.  We would love to hear it. The house in Caunes is now under contract.  So, we won't be seeing it.  We're on the lookout for more.  I really liked the house in Pradelles-Cabardès, but the level 3 Radon in the region makes me too nervous to pursue it.
12. Yes Sue, I did notice the TF.  I'm finding it very interesting that the TF can vary wildly from town to town and house to house. Wooly - yes, you are right.  We stayed in Bedoin for 13 years.  Our current location was always a 'let's see how we like City living' thing.  The small apartment in Paris was always a temporary first place on the ground apartment that we just kept after our daughter moved out of it.  We had a very good relationship with the owner there.  We knew we would need a bigger space.  Found the bigger space and also found that City living is not for us.  Especially in a Pandemic when things are no longer normal.  Also don't really like renting.  We knew all along that this could be the case. Thank you Norman for the weather link.  I will check it out. Nomoss - if the house is still for sale when we get settled in Sainte-Cecile, we will ask for an appointment to see it.  Thank you all for your expertise.  It is very much appreciated.
13. Thank you Nomoss.  How do you do that ??  !!   That certainly appears to be the house from the shape of the roofline.  As it is off the main road, I cannot google walk it, but it looks so nice and private.
14. Yes Mint, I would do just as you have done to sell a house.  And yes Judith, we WILL be visiting these areas ourselves as soon as we can.  We are just seeing SO SO SO many lovely homes that fall into our budget and in, what appear to be, gorgeous settings. The part about the location for the prefecture and sous-prefecture is also very helpful and always important. What about Limoux? https://www.audeimmobilier.com/vente/11-aude/1-limoux/46460-villa-avec-piscine-sur-une-hauteur-de-limoux-batie-sur-6316-m/916-villa Or Couiza (a bit remote I guess, but what a nice setting). https://www.audeimmobilier.com/vente/11-aude/7-couiza/46485-belle-villa-a-5-minutes-d-esperaza/974-villa Does the weather vary considerably in these areas?
15. This one notes the taxe fonciere is 3600€ !!!  We didn't pay anywhere near that in the Vaucluse for a house of a similar size with pool.  Could this be accurate? https://beauxvillages.com/en/buy/property/238791-BVI21421
16. Thank you all so much.  And thanks for the links Norman.  I like the second one more than the first one.  I had looked at a few agencies in the same general area and found the prices higher for similar properties to the ones I linked from Leggett.  I have to say that I did also see properties on their site that did seem higher than other agencies.  So, I guess, with them, it must be a mixed bag.  I have not contacted them to ask any questions.  At this point, we are still in the research stage. I wonder why a seller would list with them if they are known for less than standard operating procedures.  Or, if a buyer is made aware, then I guess it would have to be THE house for them to deal with such issues. Husband does think Quillan is remote, but we've been looking at lots of areas where you can get more house for your money and all of them are rather remote.  The medical care thing would be a concern.  We don't suffer serious problems now, but who knows about the future.  As has been said earlier in this thread (I think), we will have to compromise on something(s). The settings tend to sell themselves and I know that is what a lot of sellers are counting on.  SO many of the homes we see don't appear to have been updated for 50 years !  Okay, maybe a slight exageration.
17. Thank you Wooly.  Got it and appreciate the info.  That's kinda what we figured.  We'll avoid.
18. Thanks Norman.  Do you think the two houses linked above in St. Chinian and Quillan are legit?  We don't know these areas well enough to know if the prices are truly within the norm for the area or not.  They are far less expensive than similar properties in the Vaucluse.
19. Thanks Wooly.  Yes, why are their prices so much lower than other agencies?  I did notice that.  Are they a scam operation? ALL their prices seem unreal.
20. Well, I'm back.  I'll try not to drive you all mad, but is anyone familiar with the town of Pradelles-Cabardès, 11380?  At first study, it does not appear to be in a flood zone.  Those seem to be further above and / or further below the this town.  It is listed as a category 3 risk of Radon !  I have no idea why it is so high.  Do any of you know anything about high Radon regions?  We have secured a rental house in the Vaucluse and IF this house is still for sale after we've settled in there (first week of June), we'd like to go have a look at it.  Unless any of you folks think we are better off avoiding it. ttps://www.leggett-immo.com/acheter-vendre-une-maison/view/105588SAM11/maison-a-vendre-a-pradelles-cabard%C3%A8s-aude-languedoc-roussillon-france We also liked these (each in slightly different area).  If anyone knows any of these areas, we'd love to hear your thoughts. https://www.leggett-immo.com/acheter-vendre-une-maison/view/119309SSU11/maison-a-vendre-a-quillan-aude-languedoc-roussillon-france https://www.leggett-immo.com/acheter-vendre-une-maison/view/93326HPO66/maison-a-vendre-a-olette-pyr%C3%A9n%C3%A9es-orientales-languedoc-roussillon-france https://www.leggett-immo.com/acheter-vendre-une-maison/view/120061CST34/maison-a-vendre-a-agel-h%C3%A9rault-languedoc-roussillon-france https://www.leggett-immo.com/acheter-vendre-une-maison/view/103466CG34/maison-a-vendre-a-saint-chinian-h%C3%A9rault-languedoc-roussillon-france Thank you all !
21. That's a great link Norman ! I use this one under my foundation.  Just around the eyes, nose mainly.  It isn't cheap, but it lasts a long time.  As with all make-up in a squeeze tube, once you can no longer squeeze any product out, cut the base of the tube open and you will get at least another 2 weeks of product out of it. https://www.nocibe.fr/it-cosmetics-bye-bye-under-eye-correcteur-anti-age-waterproof-haute-couvrance-20-0-medium-neutre-s236029 I use this foundation.  Far less expensive than the concealer.  Lasts a long time and can be found on Amazon for those who shop there. https://www.nocibe.fr/l-oreal-paris-infaillible-24h-matte-cover-fond-de-teint-haute-couvrance-matifiantet-leger-s238953
22. I do sympathise Chessie. Not much help, but I can say that I have had to call the local garage to come out for battery problems in the past.  He also came out when I had a flat tire - roofers left nails in the gravel driveway... I also had the tires replaced by ordering them online.  Guy came out and installed them all at our house in Bédoin. Now, I did  know the closest garage guy.  He runs a Renault repair shop on the outskirts of Bédoin and that is where we too our Renault for regular maintenance.  However, this repair involved a Toyota.  He was great and did not charge me for the call outs.  He sold me a reasonable new battery and installed it.  He also repaired the hole in the tire and it continued to roll just fine for another two  year !!  Cost something around 12€ I also have experience with batteries not lasting long.  We learned if the car was going to sit idle for an extended period of time, we needed to disconnect the battery to avoid it dying.  Never had problems after that. Could your issue be the starter? Best of luck for a good result.
23. I couldn't read all of the article linked as you have to be a member, but I get the idea.  It has appeared that way to me for a while now (the we have to live with it concept). I feel sorry for anyone needing serious health care (Covid or otherwise). Though the vaccination campaign has improved, the numbers are still low (IMO) for an all out reopening of commerce this month.  I cannot imagine the hospitals NOT getting chocker full again round mid June or July.  Of course, I hope I am wrong.
24.
Who else thinks that cases are going to explode in June/July ?
Sadly, I do.
25. That's great Judith !  Hope he continues to feel no serious side effects.
