Halewood International Foreign Exchange

We have been using Halewood to purchase and transfer Euros to purchase our property. We have had no faults at all with them. However, we wished to purchase a further 2000 worth of Euros in order to have them transferred into our CA bank. We were told that the minimum we could purchase was 5000 worth of euros. Does anyone know if this is the same for all the other companies?

there are various threads on this, and to be found under the search button. Basically, and yes its slightly expensive but we just send cheques to CA at Britline. We also have a La Poste account, and just draw money out in France via our debit cards, either pay it direct to CA through the CA in our town, or pay it in to La Poste and draw a cheque. The latter way incurs no charges.

We had the same experience as you. We transferred the money for our purchase with HIFX and that was fine, but when we wanted to top up the French Bank account we found out that the lower limit was 5000. We then enquired at our bank (First Direct) and they were happy to organise a Euro draft which we collected and mailed to our French bank. There was a flat rate of 10 for this - very good exchange rate too.
