Does anybody know their art?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to remember the name of a painting I was very fond of some years ago.  I think it was by a Lord (but I may be getting the artist confused with Lord Leighton).

It was a romantic picture (as was most of the artists work).  Pale woman in floaty velvet gowns, usually on a boot moored on an river bank ... with lots of rich fabrics and generally a candle lamp or two.

Sound familiar?  I'd love to know the name of the artists, so I could track down the particular painting.

Thanks folks

Choccie,

You may not be as confused as you think.[:)]

It could be Frederic, Lord Leighton. You could google images of paintings by him,  but a section of one of his most famous, 'Flaming June' is shown on Wikipedia,

And Wiki also has links relating to artists associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Botherhood. If your artist isn't Leighton, I'll make a guess s/he will be on the list.

Tj, it took me ages to post before and I didn't see your message.

It could easily be a Waterhouse that Choccie's thinking of. He is a much better bet than Lord Leighton.[:)]

I also wondered whether the artist s/he is looking for could be Dante Gabriel Rossetti?

Did you look at any pics on-line yet, Choccie?
