Thanks for that, Megan.  Yes, the house is very empty and quiet, but we're planning a few holidays and then next spring we'll be off to the pound.....  Happiness and heartbreak, yes, but we couldn't live without animals in our lives!

Oh that's very sad, you must be devastated.  I looked back to the original post - the kittens were born on the 1st May so they're still very young - how are they doing?

Sadly our hamster had to be put down this week - she developed horrible black tumours on her skin (one the size of a pea which the vet burst open like she was squeezing a blackhead [+o(] ).  The kitten's had his second vaccines and will venture out into the garden for the firts time this afternoon [blink]

thanks Suze... we are all really sad... we buried in her favourite part of our garden and I keep thinking how sad it will be to leave her behind.

The photo of her with the kittens is a few years old now... we kept one kitten and he's a huge big cat now.  Last night he was wandering around looking very sad and lost.  We have another older cat and she sat up with me through the night, snuggled up really close to Moony and kept licking her, it was like she knew she wasn't going to make it.  You just get so attached to your animals and it is hard when they go.

Moony was always a tiny little thing, she was only 6 weeks old when we had her, she had been found wandering the lanes where my dad lived.  She was never a cuddly cat (prefered an empty chair to a lap) but when she had her kittens she was having problems delivering and I stayed up with her all night...  I must have fallen asleep on the floor beside her and woke up with her on my tummy delivering the first kitten.  We stayed with her throughout and helped her deliver them all.  She was in a spare room away from noise and children but after one day she brought all of the kittens down to our sitting room behind the TV... we felt very honoured that she wanted us to be so near and so involved.  Over the last couple of weeks as she became more ill she has again wanted to be with us all the time... I stayed up with her all night on her last night and again she stayed really close to me and I am glad that I was able to be with her... We were worried she might just take herself off and be alone but again she chose to be with us... It makes me beleive she knew she was loved.... now I'm crying again!

She had a fall when we were walking round Pads Lake...

A misty view unfortunately, but a lovely peaceful place.

You are very lucky Pads and thank you for a lovely spread for lunch, from all and good luck with the A levels!

Poor pooch.  Looks a little bemused in the photo.  I can empathise.  It was around this time last year that our little Tabs cat broke one of her back legs.  She was so disorientated when she came out of the aneasthetic to find this large white heavy cast.  Muggins here slept downstairs on the sofa with her the first evening she was home and had to help her to her litter tray.  She soon got the hang of the plaster though and was soon zipping about the garden which was unfortunate for us as the vet told us she could go out, but one of us had to be with her at all times while she was out.  Towards the end though it took two of us to look out for her because she was so quick.

Also, what a lovely view from them there mountains.  A lovely place to live no doubt,
