Some help and guidance please.

Which is the best and most reliable testing method for free chlorine.

I have tried them all, the dip strips, the liquid drop test, and the DTP tablet, and guess what, they all give different results.

So please, which is the most reliable?

I only ever use the DPD tablets for Chlorine and Phenol Red tablets for pH Test as they are the best and the most accurate. I am sure Poolguy (Andrew) will respond when he has time, but every professional pool person has always told me only ever to use the tablets. I believe I was told that the liquid drops have a short shelf live and are not accurate.

I agree with Baz

DPD1 tablets for Chlor

phenol Red tablets for pH

Cyanuric acid tabs a must for those dosing manually, as it measures Stabiliser.

You can get them in L'Ecleric, or Castorama, and sometimes in Gamm

Vert.Or if you fail completely then send me a PM and I'll send you some.

The reagent liquid does have a short life and surprisingly its

measurement is of no interest because it measures Total chlorine,

including the chlorine 'locked' by Stabliser (cynuric acid).

The Tabs strips I have found to of limited use and not very accurate.

I cannot emphasies enough the importance of regular and accurate

testing, If you don't, the risk you run of a bad pool is is a near

certainty.
