algea and leaking..

Hello

I have some friends with a recently installed pool which is giving problems.  The company has gone out of business ( quelle surprise!) and they are left with leaking around the skimmers and an algea on the textured base of the pool which they would like some advice on.

The pool is block construction and the finish is 'marbling' which is a finish of marble dust, chips and white cement.  This finish is now attracting algea which is finding its way into the tiny textured parts of the finish.  Also, there is leaking around the skimmers (the make is Hayward) which someone has tried to fix but not managed.  I know this is a vague enquiry but if anyone has anything they think it worth passing on to this unfortunate owner, please reply!

Many thanks

Fran

Hi

You may be able to seal the skimmers with a good mastic

Take the front from the skimmer and see what kind of fixings have been used, it could be a good idea to remove them and mastic them in correctly before screwing them back in.

The Algea should not grow if the chemical s are ok

Kill the algea with a shock of clor then keep it away with anti-Algues and correct chemical balance.
