Connection problems?

Recommended Posts

Is there anybody out there who can help me with the following problem please.

We are with AOL.fr.and have been successfully surfing with our limited knowledge for 12 months or more,no problems.Until last week when we tried to login to a betting web-site(Betfred.com)It had been fine all week for Cheltenham festival week, but on the 18th.of March we were unable to login(pop up)and yes we have told the computor to allow them from trusted sites, and we are told that Internet Explorer cannot find server, and to check settings and all sorts of other things that don't seem to make a difference. We also set up a hotmail account a couple of weeks earlier,no probs.until the same day as the Betfred site went, and now we cannot sign in to that account either! It tells us we may not be connected to the Internet, but of course we are or else we would not be able to attempt sign in!

We are going round the bend trying to sort this out & getting nowhere fast, any sensible suggestions other than throwing the laptop in the bin & giving up betting.

Hi,

Don't know if it will work or not but will try to help...

sounds as if you may have been 'spywared'.....

First go to your AOL settings (Internet Settings, Control panel) and clear your Temporary files (offline content also) and your cookies, and your history of saved pages.
Then you should log on to Adware or run AOL spyware detector.  (AOL9) Also run a virus scan and check your settings for permitted site connections. A spyware program will set itself up as a trusted site without you knowing.

If you know you have done all those things and still not found a cause, reinstall AOL as corruptions happen and although AOL 9 seems fairly solid, it's previous versions all have glitches.

Let me know if any of that helps... Of course it goes without saying to change all your passwords and account names, especially for things like banking or billpaying online.
