Otherwise no.Other than that, unless your TV will decode PAL (most Fr ones do), then you will not be able to play back PAL tapes. VCR's do not convert PAL to SECAM and most do not produce RGB (like a DVD player or a Sky box) for use via the SCART socket. Your Sony will probably produce RGB for it's DVD player and composite (PAL) video from it's VCR player. It will record in PAL (on the VCR - there is no "encoding" on a DVD recorder).Easy?
