  1. Nearly right Burgundyboy. You actually do not need to pay €25.00 to become a member of Burgundy Friends. You can join without paying the fee. You have full use of the Forum. The only caveat is that if you want to attend any of the events you would have to pay a small fee towards the cost. This is a great improvement on the old service especially for those who are only visiting for short periods. It is a very good well run site and the committee are to be congratulated on the work they have put in to get it back on track

  2. It seems Andy that the pressure brought on this company has caused them to go into liquidation. The power of the internet has allowed people to make their complaints and this would seem too much for this company to continue trading. It has been obvious that there has been a high number of very unsatisfied customers with court cases pending. The threads on scam.com have been very revealing and is a warning to all. Check out who you are dealing with and get good references.

  3. I have recieved an Email from Paypal advising me that my account needs to be updated due to new European money laundering regulations. What concerns me is that when I go to my account they are asking me to send a copy of my passport and a proof of address ( household bill). I am worried about sending this sort of information. Has anyone else received this notification .

  4. I have purchased a Pooleye PE41 pool alarm off the internet and the instalation instructions ore of course in French. Has anyone fitted one of these, and if so do you have English instalation guide? I have tried to contact the suppliers with no luck. By the way this is a secondary security feature as we have a security fence fitted.

  5. Hi everyone,

I am having great difficulty contacting Renault UK to get a cert of Conformity for my aging Renault Traffic van. According to the "not very helpful" person in Renault UK - you do not now need a certificate of conformity for France (amazing) This is not the first vehicle I have successfully registered in France and I do know what I am doing.

Can anyone give me a telephone number or a person to contact in France (I have given up in UK) regarding this. Personally, I recommend Peugeot UK for any queries concerning this as I had no problem at all registering my Peugeot 406

    thanks

  6. Hi Kieth.

Hold your breath. I am also living in the Morvan. I have had my roof completely replaced minus the main roof beams. So new chevrons, latts, felt, terracotta tiles zinc guttering and finished to a very high standard. Local Artizan, roofer. A total of 90 m2 and the cost was €13000. So this guy must be building a new garage under the roof. I would insert a picture if I knew how. Come and take a look you are more than welcome.

P.S. I forgot to mention I sold the old roof tiles and have been heating the house with all the old wood from the roof!

  7. Thanks everyone for your comments. The reservoir of information is astounding. I believe that failure on my behalf to declare this information may result in me being bogged down in beaurocracy and may lead to flood court proceedings raining down on me. I will swamp the water company with a storm of correspondance in the hope that it will damp down their enthusiasm to fit the meter.

  8. Can anyone help. I have a renovation project that has a water supply but no water meter. If I have the meter fitted outside the house will I have to pay for the instalation or is it the responsability of the water company.
  9. Thanks AndyC for putting that straight. I was also taken in by the reteric. When I moved to France it was with the promise of work, help setting up a business, advertising and support. Apart from the work none of the rest materialised, the work soon dried up and I paid money to them for privilege. I left their control after a short time to set up my own business. They continue to trade in our region and most of the old hands know of them. My advise to new dwellers in every case is to have good referencing before employing a company or business to carry out any work.

  10. Can anyone advise me how much it costs approx to move the electricity meters and main supply (which are currently in my living room) to say the cellar. I have been given differing views and wonder if anyone has actually had this done as part of a renovation. The cellar is directly below the present system.

    thanks

    Dave

  11. I couldn't agree more. The best form of advertising is by word of mouth and recommendation. I know I am not supposed to advertise on this Forum or at least it is not looked upon favorably but in this instance I am going to try. I own and run Burgundy Property Management. My business is based on trust. I take no money up front other than materials for which the clients get the invoice from the supplier.I only charge my clients when they are happy with my work. I am not one of the big boys so my expense is really my time. So as you can imagine any bad press in my line of work could be hard on the buisness. If you visit the Burgundy Pulse forum there are many posts refering to the company in question which is very enlightening. I just hope that this post remains active for a little while.
