  1. There are plenty of web based 'galleries' around and most of them are free. I've never sold anything on line though. I think people like to actually go to art galleries. Like I said we add 40% to their price, not take it off. This seems to keep everyone happy. [;-)]
  2. If you were to let your holiday gite to people for say, 6 months, when normally you only let it for typical holiday periods, would you offer a substantial discount? or a small discount? None?
  3. Ooh, I don't know! Maybe you're just curious? [;-)]
  4. See my post in the 'artist' bit down there *points*
  5. This may be of interests to photographers, it's from the Maison des Artistes documents:  AGESSA is for OTHER artists : authors, musical composers, choreographers, creators  of cinematic and audiovisual work, of photographical work.  21 bis, rue de Bruxelles – 75009 Paris Tel. 01 48 78 25 00 – Fax 01 48 78 17 30 – Web site www.agessa.org
  6. We run a small gallery here in the SW and we put 40% on top of what the artist wants for their work. I've just edited out a link to my gallery just in case it's in breach of anything :) PM me if you want a link
  7. Thank you. I don't understand the problem with my email address(es). I get messages from everybody else, and as I said, I get notifications from this site when people reply to my posts ???? Oh well.  :)
  8. Has anyone organised a sort of english village style fete with prizes for the 'biggest pumpkin' or 'best leeks' type of competition in France? I haven't seen any villages here that do those type of competitions and wondered whether it depends on the type of community (rural) or is it just one of those typically english things?
  9. Anyone else with this company? I've found them good up to a point until we had a dispute over an unpaid bill. It's now been sorted out,, but trying to get my phone working again has been extremely difficult. Having not been able to speak to anyone there via the phone, I have sent numerous emails, none of which have been answered. Is it just me?  [:(]
  10. We had exactly the same thing in our house - the concrete stairs were the most hideous thing in it along with a huge metal bannister. But it was solid, very solid, so we decided to put wooden treads over it. Amazingly I found a whole staircase in the skip at our local dechetterie which was almost exactly the same width and had almost enough treads, so that's what we used. All I did was drill into the concrete through the wood and rawlplugged and screwed them down. The result is a softer, solid oak reclaimed staircase. Far far better than the concrete one before and as it's fixed to the concrete stairs, it's not at all noisy. Maybe the odd creak, but that sounds better than a hard 'concretey' sound!
  11. Thanks Nick, I tried again today with everything else in the room off (it's a 'utility' room) and it seems to be okay. I've instructed the guests to not use everything at the same time (we'll see if that sinks in!). :) PS I still don't know what the switch at the base of the cumulus does. It seems to have 2 settings. Maybe I'll just have to experiment.
  12. I would look it up if I could find a name on it! Coincidentally, now the stupid thing is making the RCD flip off which is very irritating as we have guests staying there that need hot water! I haven't touched any settings or anything but now it won't allow me to switch it back on - the switch flips down each time. I'm no electrician, so can anyone give me any ideas as to what could be causing it? It's protected by a 20 amp RCD and has an analogue timer on it.
  13. Does anyone have a cumulus with several settings underneath? Mine has a switch on a plastic 'bulge' below it that can be put into 2 or 3 different positions. Unfortunately I only discovered this when I'd mounted it on the wall and boxed most of it in, so trying to see what they say is almost impossible. Does anyone know what they do?
  14. Sigh..... isn't that just typical but depressing? Is there another company that I (we) can switch to but keep our existing number?
  15. I bought an NRG sim card way back, but now when I want to re-charge it, I can only see 'expiring' terms. Am I looking at the right page? I was able to buy as many euros of calls as I liked before, without them expiring. Have they changed this does anyone know???
  16. Like this you mean?  http://www.letour.fr/2007/TDF/LIVE/us/1800/etape_par_etape.html#zone1
  17. I've poured glysophate on them (about 6 months ago now) and this doesn't seem to have done anything. I didn't drill down into the stems, so perhaps I'll try again doing that.
  18. Is this possible? I'm asking for a friend who's just signed up with them and I don't know how or if it can be done. She wants a seperate email address (not webmail) from her husband. I'm on a Mac and don't know how the 'accounts' thing works on a PC, can someone help? Thanks.
  19. Sorry to have been so curt - I should have added some more info meself!  :)
  20. In the Internet Set Up FAQ up there *points up* ! Where's the rest?!
  21. Thanks all. Yes, it's just a 4 pillared thing with struts across. I think I'll put in a permis though just in case.....
  22. Sorry to ask, as I know this gets asked a lot, but I need to build a pergola (5m x 8m). It's obviously not a living space, but as it's bigger than 5 x 4 do I need a permis?
