  1. Hi Michael, just to clarify, the 60mm pipe is an old one coming from a sink sticking out of the kitchen wall into the back garden and would be really difficult to replace. My local brico does not sell any 60mm tees or reducers hence the original question. Any help greatly appreciated. dc (17 Charente Maritime)
  2. I have a piece of 60mm pipe which I need to attach to our fosse of 100mm pipe. Can anyone advise where to get any joints as the local brico only supply 32mm,40mm,50mm or 100mm. Any help greatly appreciated.   dc (17)
  3. Today I visited a specialist shop selling central heating boilers and the necessary copper pipe etc. After receiving a devis I compared a couple of items with my local Brico and to my horror observed the following: 75 metres of 22mm copper pipe in specialist shop 576 Euros.     In local Brico 219 Euros. 60 metres of 14mm copper pipe in specialist shop 282 Euros.      In local Brico 98 Euros. I know people have got to make a living but I think that this is a bit much.  Does anyone know of a decent plumbers merchant in 17,79,16 regards dc
  4. What is the best way of making holes in 2ft thick limestone walls for 100mm soil pipe, smaller waste pipes and copper pipe. Any advice/help greatly appreciated. dc
  5. I need to buy an oil fired boiler which will only heat our radiators as I am happy to use the chauffe-eau for our hot water. The radiators have a total output of 25.5 KW. Should I spend a fortune on a boiler or get a cheaper version from our local Brico. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated as I need to know the pros and cons. regards dc
  6. Does anyone know why radiators have the input valve at the top of a rad and the return valve at the bottom. In the UK both were at the bottom. Any help greatly appreciated.   regards dc
  7. I am about to have a go at installing oil fired central heating in our "old cold house" and was wondering if anyone knows any useful websites or has any info on how to proceed. I need to know: what size copper piping to use? what's a good make of oil-fired boiler? radiators in aluminium or steel? what's the formula for size of boiler? what's the formula for size of radiator in each room? best place to buy all the gear? any advice gratefully received! regards dc

  9. I noticed a charge on my bank statement for 43Euros for my carte 4s card. I'm not sure what this card is for, I was given it from Banque CIO last year when I opened my account, it has the Visa sign on it but I only use it to withdraw money at the counter at my bank. Is this a charge for using it because I am sure I could write a cheque just as easy. Can anyone advise if I need it and also what sort of card I need for the hole in the wall. My banking knowledge is not very good and would appreciate any help. regards dc
  10. I have at last moved into my house in the Charente-Maritime (17). I have installed a BT Diverse 3016 telephone and have a dial tone. I have rang the UK and the phone works as clear as a bell, the only problem is that when anybody phones me the phone does not ring. My brother in the UK rings my mobile and then arranges for me to pick up my land line phone a minute later and hey presto he's talking on the other end. What equipment do I need to fix things and where can I get it from?? Any help would be appreciated! regards dc
